Senior Engineering Specialist - TRAS Systems
Eaton’s Fuel & Motion Controls Systems division, a part of our Aerospace group, is currently seeking a Senior Engineering Specialist – TRAS Systems to join our team. This position is based at our Grand Rapids, MI facility.
The Senior Engineering Specialist is responsible for supporting the Aerospace New Technology Integration strategy, through leadership, execution, and professional direction of the Aerospace Fuel & Motion Control hydraulic and electro mechanical actuation (EMA) technology development. In this role, you will be responsible for short and long-range planning (leveraging agile methodology), ownership, and implementation of technical roadmaps aligned with the business objectives. The position will coordinate support across multiple functions including Centers of Excellence, program management, product teams, and other areas of the organization.

You will lead the Technical Integrated Product Team (IPT) in the development new or upgrade existing actuator products for aerospace applications by driving the team to program milestones, design integrity and ensuring a high-level of engineering discipline
You will ensure that potential synergies between the divisional, group, and global engineering sites are identified.
You will plan the design, analysis and verification activities for new product developments, prepare engineering proposals for new or changed scope research and technology projects by compiling, preparing and providing technical data, and lead internal Gate Reviews for research/ technology and Core product development projects.
You will present research and technology project status and pivot recommendations as appropriate to Eaton and Customer Senior Leadership.
You will implement voice of the customer and voice of the market into technology roadmaps and product/technology development plans.
You will deliver on program milestones by estimating task durations, identify resource needs and track tasks to closure. Drive engineering discipline with regards to first pass yield, on-time delivery and design in accordance with Eaton standards.
You will manage assigned tasks and team tasks to meet schedule and budget.
You will support development of architecture and functional description of products or systems being developed. Oversee development testing and review engineering test data to ensure product requirement compliance.

Minimum of 5 years of technical leadership (either direct or indirect management)
- Minimum of 10 years of technical experience

This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). - Master’s Degree or MBA from an accredited institution
Minimum of 10 years of experience managing a technical team (direct or indirect)
- Minimum of 15 years of technical experience
- Experience in Program Management
- Project Management certification (i.e. PMP or PMI)
Experience working on early TRL, MRL and CRL programs
- Experience with Agile Methodology

- Hydraulic and pneumatic system design

- Equipment design and maintenance
- System and component verification
- Requirements development
- Detailed knowledge of military and commercial aerospace test standards including DO-160 and MIL-STD-810
- Test report development
- EEE laboratory equipment knowledge
- Environmental laboratory equipment knowledge
- Product endurance testing
