This exciting role is part of Electrical Sector with a primary responsibility to lead an engineering team on design and development of residential product range primarily for US markets. He/she will be responsible for driving a culture of innovation, learning & continuous improvement while executing the projects which include NPI, NTI, VAVE and sustaining engineering projects. He/ she will be responsible for execution of new products as per the roadmap and developing capabilities in line with the strategic plan over the next few years. He/she will be directly responsible for building technical expertise in Hardware design. This will include design of the power electronics circuits and microcontroller based embedded systems. Delivering high performance & owing engineering element of the project will be prime focus.

Your essential responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to the team to execute projects and make day to day engineering decisions. Should be well acquainted with different phases of product development and engineering aspects as required for project execution.
  • Provide tactical and strategic direction to the team to foster organic growth through innovation/ new product development. Lead efforts to enrich PDLC experience and gain end to end ownership on focus areas
  • Work on different systems and processes to accelerate productivity and execution. Work with division leadership to streamline work processes and drive role clarity across multiple locations. Train and mentor team members to execute engineering and project tasks efficiently.
  • Lead cross functional/ multi-disciplinary team in making technology/ engineering decisions in line with division’s strategy and future growth plans. Should have working experience in execution of projects across multiple geographies.
  • Drive analysis first and data driven decisions culture within the team to achieve engineering excellence. Create and sustain process for design standards and procedures governing product design methods, documents and data control for circuit protection group.
  • Responsible for a wide variety of engineering and technical tasks involving the application of engineering knowledge and the development of solutions to complex problems pertaining to products, materials, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique customer applications.
  • Understand compliance requirements of product to UL/ NEC and NEMA standards. Effectively utilize standards and application knowledge during product design as well as design reviews.
  • Understand different manufacturing process and leverage the same for design of components/ assemblies for use in residential circuit protection products. Some processes include PCBAs, integration with mechanical components, automated high-volume manufacturing. Components/Parts need to be efficiently designed for cost and quality. Should have some exposure to DFM and DFA.
  • Execute prototype build, PV/DV testing, teardown of proto-type samples to evaluate product performance against customer requirements. Utilize DFSS concepts / tools such as PDSC, P-Diagram, DFMEA, Risk Management & DVPR for new product development &/or existing product improvements.
  • Responsible for system level engineering analysis, requirements engineering and program management (risk analysis and mitigation, project planning)

Qualifications

If you are:
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in the field of product design and development for electrical applications complying to IEC/UL standards with preferably 2-3 years of experience as technical lead.

  • Sound technical knowledge and experience in design and development of residential products such as circuit breakers- AFCI, GFCI, MCBs and power distribution, protection and control products and relevant product standards like UL, IEC & NEC.

  • Extensive experience of full Hardware development life cycle including requirements management, design, development, verification & validation, qualification & certification testing in Electrical / Industrial applications. Demonstrated product execution from concept through commercialization on at least 2 projects of medium technical complexity involving concept generation, POC, Verification, validation and certification as per global standards.

  • Should have hands on experience on hardware architecture design, feature & performance specifications, 16/32-bit micro-controllers-based designs.

  • Should have hands on experience on simulation tools like PSpice, LTSpice, Model Sim, etc.

  • Hands on experience in defining the system / subsystem specifications, designing the architecture and requirements for complex systems.

  • Should have ability to influence and drive people / activities on complex technical issues.

  • Strong knowledge of EMI / EMC certification and environmental compliances – UL /IEC / RoHS / REACH etc

  • Hands on experience on various Communication protocols like RS232, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, wireless etc

  • Experience collaborating with local / global suppliers for prototype developments, external labs for testing etc.

  • Proven track record on IP generation and driving innovation culture within the team

  • Good knowledge on PCB design guidelines for SI, high speed design & EMI/EMC.

  • Knowledge of FAA/TP312/ICAO Standards
