Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

 

This position uses technical expertise in machining, electro mechanical assembly, fabrication and NADCAP process to ensure best practice at the supply base.  The successful person will be able to lead the team of SQEs and drive quality and continuous improvement actions such as lean manufacturing, scrap reduction, design improvement, capability improvements and to implement a program of focused systemic improvement in poor performing suppliers.  They must also have the ability to assess and control the supplier base to Eaton Aerospace in accordance with business, contractual and regulatory requirements, while driving continuous improvements.

Your key deliverables:

  • Lead quality, technical and EHS system assessments to determine if a supplier’s quality system, technical competency and environmental policies meet Eaton’s expectations

  • Ensure initial supplier orientation and provide WISPER training as required

  • Ensuring key supplier improvement initiatives are adhered to and driving continuous improvement using quality tools such as 8D, SPC, Lean, Six Sigma

  • Providing technical support to Eaton's supply chain and internal purchasing team to minimize disruption to operations

  • Monitoring KPI’s and identifying supplier performance trends including reducing number of Supplier DMRs

  • Evaluating the supply base using supplier quality assessment techniques – audit, questionnaire, metrics, etc.

  • Approve Suppliers by conducting “desktop” and/or on-site audits of the suppliers Quality Management System.

  • Ensure that Regulatory, Customer and Business requirements are flowed to suppliers and sub-contractors.

  • Develop and deliver training programs (internal & external) including WISPER, 8D, RCCA

  • Participate in resolving issues with suppliers and sub-contractors relating to manufacture, quality, handling and communications

  • Authorize concessions in line with Company & Customer requirements and lead process improvements with the cross functional team

  • Provide external and internal Auditing with authority to accept or reject proposed suppliers as well as supporting the external and customer audit process


Qualifications

Are you?

  • Apprentice trained with a Degree/HNC in an engineering related discipline – experience may be taken in lieu of qualification.

  • Proven experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment, with a sound working knowledge of aerospace regulatory and quality requirements EASA Part 21 and AS/EN9100.

  • Experience of Six Sigma and Lean practices.

  • Practical experience of auditing Suppliers within the Electro-Mechanical, Mechanical engineering industry.

  • Proven ability to supervise corrective actions and improvement activities with Suppliers.

  • Supplier evaluation and development experience, preferably in a lead role.

  • Sound practical experience with Excel and Word. Ability to learn the use of new business software.

  • Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and to organize and work closely with others.

  • Qualified Auditor
