Job Description

Eaton’s Hydraulic division is currently seeking a Metallurgist Technician to join our team. This position is based at our Queretaro facility.

The Metallurgist Technician is responsible for inspecting & evaluate the chemical & metallurgical properties of the product according to procedures / standards or specifications; it is performed on suitable facilities and equipment according to evaluation requirements

Some activities related with the position will be:                                                                            

  • Perform micro hardness, Surface & Core hardness inspection.

  • Inspect of the case depth for carburizing or nitrocarburizing processes.

  • Perform the microstructural analysis to evaluate the percentage of retained austenite, grain boundary oxidation (GBO), carbides presence, free ferrite and other metallurgical characteristics.

  • Prepare the samples for metallurgical & chemical inspections.

  • Record the scrapped parts for metallurgical inspection.

  • Verify with masters the correct calibration of the equipment (such as Microhardness & Hardness Testers) to be audited.

  • Support the key performance indicator through the optimization of the consumables for the MetLab.

  • Support the activities of the Special Processes Enginner.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • TSU Mechanical or bachelor degree in Manufacturing or Materials Engineering.

  • 2 years of experience in Metallurgic / or Chemical testing in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proven experience in measuring and inspection instruments ( i.e. roughness / profile tester, optical comparator, laser micrometer, manual instruments, Marposs and Zeiss optical tester) and performing of calibration methods on such machines.

  • GD&T knowledge.

  • Must have knowledge of the evaluation and inspection on the microstructures and material properties of ferrous and non-ferrous materials and metallurgical equipment & devices.

  • High skilled in Microsoft Office.

  • Intermediate English Level
