We are looking forward to a Senior Engineer – Embedded Hardware in Eaton’s India Innovation Center, based in Magarpatta, Pune.

This exciting role has to lead hardware design and development of Harsh and Hazardous Area products for US and EMEA markets. He/she will be responsible for driving a culture of innovation, learning & continuous improvement while executing the projects which include NPI, NTI, VAVE and sustaining engineering projects. He/ she will be responsible for introducing new technologies to drive successful project execution. He will be responsible for the overall Hardware design of the product with specific focus on new product engineering for creative development of lighting and sensor technology products. This will include design of the power electronics circuits and microcontroller based embedded systems. He should coordinates with Project Coordinator/ engineering leaders, Marketing Manager, Optical Design Group, Mechanical Engineering, Sourcing and Manufacturing personnel to develop the products in an organized and expedient fashion. He will be responsible for meeting the overall project schedule and budget.

Your essential responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new products and control systems to meet internal and external Customer requirements for advancement of the Lighting and Sensing product offerings.

  • Collaborate with engineering and all other functions of the business to ensure products meet schedule, budget, performance and Design for Excellence (DFx) objectives.

  • Design and Peer Reviews project deliverables to ensure quality levels are met through tools such as DFSS and co-ordinate with engineering teams.

  • Understand customer requirements and implement them and act as the liaison for program activities as appropriate.

  • Develop the Work Break Down structure for Hardware & Firmware Milestones and Activities and work efficiently in order to effectively manage time.

  • Monitor progress and achievements on projects. Provide regular reports on development and support activities to project manager, engineering manager and lead engineer.

  • Provide resolution of issues and monitor integration of work.

  • Develop and Review technical concepts of all electronics projects including equipment specification and design.

  • Synergies and leverage engineering capabilities across groups.

  • Protects intellectual property through patent disclosures.

  • Searches for technologies which would improve product performance, reduce development time or reduce cost.


If you are:  


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Relevant Experience of more than 6 years.

  • Experience in Analog, Digital and Mixed Signal Design.         



  • Total relevant work experience: 6+ years.

  • Extensive experience of full Hardware development life cycle including requirements management, design, development, verification & validation, qualification & certification testing in Electrical / Industrial applications.

  • Demonstrated ability to technically lead the project independently, work with cross functional teams & provide solutions.

  • Should have hands on experience for

  • Analog circuit design and analysis skills including Op Amps, filters, power supply components, constant current driver.

  • Digital circuit design and analysis skills including microprocessor circuits and communication interfaces and protocols like RS232, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, Wireless, etc.

  • Schematic entry and familiarity with PCB design guidelines for SI, high speed design & understand PCB design impact on EMI/EMC.

  • Troubleshooting and bench skills including testing and debugging of hardware.

  • Hardware Module Level Validation and Physical Layer Testing.

  • Standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, spectrum analyzers).

  • Basic understanding of power systems analysis: VA,  power factor, efficiency.

  • Hardware architecture design, feature & performance specifications, 16/32 bit micro-controllers  based designs.

  • Simulation tools like PSpice, LTSpice, Model Sim, etc.

  • To Define the system / subsystem specifications, designing the architecture and requirements for complex systems.

  • Different Sensing Technologies.

  • Strong knowledge of EMI / EMC certification and environmental compliances – UL /IEC /  RoHS / REACH etc

  • Experience collaborating with local / global suppliers for prototype developments, external labs for testing etc.

  • Should have ability to influence and drive people / activities on complex technical issues.

  • Strong analytical skills, strong verbal & written communication skills and proven team player.




  • Familiarity with configuration/change management processes and tools
