Eaton is currently seeking a Buyer to join our team! This position is based at our Airdrie, AB facility.


Reporting to the Materials Manager, this position is responsible for working closely with stakeholders to maintain adequate inventory levels to ensure a smooth flow of shipped product from the production floor.  This position is also responsible to provide product support (technical, application, etc) to Marketing/Engineering and Production. Part of the responsibility for this position is to ensure the existence of a cost-effective material and service supply line that supports the manufacturing and sales of LVCA products

Specifically, the successful candidate in this position will:


  • Provide leadership implementing the Eaton Lean Six Sigma System (ELSS) and the Eaton Quality System (EQS).
  • Adhere to ISO 9000 quality procedures and work instructions and actively participate in the quality improvement process.
  • Pursue and implement the Eaton Values and Philosophy Statements.
  • Provide leadership with Eaton’s management system for environment, health, safety and security (MESH). Maintain a positive commitment to the prevention of pollution and protection of the environment by following the ISO 14000 environmental procedures, work instructions and other operational controls.
  • Perform other duties, as required
  • Responsible for interpreting master production schedules and buy-queue reports for product group and subsequent planning, ordering and expediting of inventory requirements
  • Order Advance Material Order (AMO) for specific customer orders that are not stocked.
  • Set up and manage KanBan and Point of Use (POU) inventory items for the production lines.
  • Manage non-conforming inventory disposition.
  • Resolve purchase orders on hold from suppliers.
  • Participate in supplier evaluations and certification reviews for LVCA supplier base.
  • Develop strategic purchasing programs.
  • Analyze commodity vendor data and forecast trends.
  • Negotiate stock and price agreements with suppliers.
  • Analyze, select and evaluate suppliers (new/existing).
  • Lead IDEAS program with vendors/LVCA/Burlington
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of data (eg. pricing, lot sizes, min/max quantities)

Required (Basic) Qualifications:


  • University Degree or College Diploma from and accredited institution or working towards completing a University Degree or College Diploma from an accredited institution. 
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a direct responsibility for inventory management in a manufacturing environment
  • PMAC/APICS Certification (or working towards completion)
  • This position does not offer relocation. Candidate must live within 80km of Airdrie.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship


Preferred Qualifications:


  • PMAC/APICS Certification (or working towards completion)
  • Strong working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing processes preferred
  • Solid understanding of CSSM, Vista, Query, Markview, KanBan inventory system and planning bills
