Job Description

Eaton Electrical Division North American Sales (NAS) organization located Pittsburgh, PA has an opening for a Global Segment Director.

 

The Segment Director will serve as the strategic leader for all of Eaton’s global activity for the Mining, Metals, and Minerals industrial sub-segments by directly being responsible for profitable growth globally, coordinating with regional resources focused on this effort with identified accounts.  This role is responsible for developing a profound understanding of identified sub-segments including industry applications, growth rates, CapEx & OpEx spend by geography and customer, competitor analysis, technical leadership across industry societies, executive and senior level relationship management to position Eaton as a high valued partner and top of mind industry leader of power management technologies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DIMENSIONS

 
  1. Segment leadership –  Lead, coordinate and define an action oriented global segment growth & profit by identifying target growth regions and strategic product focused initiatives based on market, share, key customers, competitors and new technologies including input from members of the global operations, sales, service and support team

  2. Sales leadership – build organizational capabilities across regional sales and product line teams that work together to deliver organic growth. Assure internal and external sales tools are in the hands of those calling on target industry customers and lead scheduled conference calls with sales resources, serving as a hub of industry information and best practices

  3. Lead global marketing communication resources to develop industry-specific collateral including play books, case studies, web content, webinars, technical papers/articles, advertising and other targeted marketing and public relations programs

  4. External Relationships – develop executive and senior level relationships with identified global target & growth accounts

  5. Growth – identify, maintain and grow profitable business through development of industry relationships and cross enterprise coordination with all of Eaton’s businesses

  6. Technical leadership – actively establish Eaton as a top of mind technical leader via participation in appropriate organizations aligned to identified industry (i.e. IEEE, AIST, WMEA)

  7. Functional organizational coordination - key focal point for all strategic issues on a worldwide basis for the assigned segment and leverages the diverse view, skills and capabilities of supporting functions (supply chain, plant operations, operational excellence, finance, human resources, engineering, information technology)

  8. Work in collaboration with Eaton’s operating divisions to build the business case to develop new products, services and solutions that address industry needs. The focus should be oriented to game changing solutions that are truly differentiated in the industry that allow Eaton to capture attractive profit margins with acceptable levels of risk

  9. Commercial stewardship – support and drive customer interface strategy with assigned sales teams to build strong support with decision makers.  Align as necessary the Executive Leadership teams from Eaton with the industry.  Coordinate meetings between Eaton Divisions / Business leaders and their customer peers.  Promote, influence and persuade various Eaton functional groups to establish and/or improve relations with their customer peers. 

  10. Project funnel – Lead and align sales efforts around opportunity identification, pursuit and closure - involving applicable Products, Systems, Solutions and Services. Provide necessary, company-wide visibility to the assigned account(s) opportunity pipeline and include this critical information in all required status and results reporting

  11. Negotiation – demonstrate leadership and support around standing agreements or transactional, including Terms & Conditions, Master Supply Agreements, Pricing, Service Level Agreements, and win / loss reporting

  12. Customer feedback – provide specific Voice of Customer feedback to appropriate product, system, solution and service business leaders – for future product development, quality, modification, customer satisfaction and other purposes

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 10 years work experience in sales or sales management

  • Minimum 7 years work experience in the electrical industry

  • Possess and maintains an valid and unrestricted driver’s license

  • Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship

     
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA
  • Product line management experience

  • Background and knowledge of distribution channels within the industry

  • Working with end user customers in the sales segment

  • Global experience
  • Successful performance working within a matrixed environment

  • Background and knowledge of electrical solutions within the industry

  • Proficient in understanding Eaton's products/services, industry applications, and customer needs
