Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Planner for 1st Shift to join our team. This position is based at our Syracuse, New York facility.
The 1st shift planner is responsible for developing and maintaining short and long-term master plans and perform all required duties related to planning, scheduling, purchasing, and expediting for specified families of end item products to maximize customer service, minimize inventory investment, and make efficient use of purchased resources. Daily work will include releasing orders for manufacture, purchase and assembly departments and will involve coordination with other Eaton facilities. Follow standardized practices, policies, and procedures with minimal supervision, and select alternative methods where appropriate to achieve service and investment goals.

- Through the use of SAP manage a complement of finished goods, components and raw materials ensuring that parts are available for the customer on time with the least amount of inventory stocked.
- Monitor incoming customer orders, shipments, forecast, backlog, inventory, and customer service by product family and in total.
Print drawings and create job packs from SAP output for use by the floor as required. Ensure job packs are handled and released to the floor according to standard and policy.
Schedule machining centers and machining departments in areas where multiple schedulers products are processed ensuring orders are handled in accordance with total business results.
Manage inventory at all levels to ensure annual goals in dollars and turns are met and materials are not created in excess of valid requirement.
Maintain finished goods at levels at or above annual customer service goals for the unit.
Maintain all planning material master data in SAP, including lot sizes, safety stocks, material replenishment types, lead times in accordance with policy and procedure.
Use Excel and other software package to periodically generate reorder points and rounding values for reorder point items
Perform purchasing execution activities for required sub-components and raw materials.
Place purchase orders on time from system generated signals and also in response to non-linear “impact” order sizes. Contact and interact with vendors to communicate delivery expectations, forecasts, design changes, etc.
Ensure purchasing PIR lead times and material master lead times match and are correct.
Recommend blanket order applications and work with Supplier Coordinator(s)
Resolve packing slip and “Blocked” invoice errors that prevent or delay receipt of goods or supplier payment.
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
1 year of experience in a planning/purchasing environment, with progressively increasing responsibilities preferred
2-year degree from an accredited institution

Must be able to work in the United States without company sponsorship
3+ years of experience in a planning/purchasing environment, with progressively increasing responsibilities
SAP experience preferred
4-year degree from an accredited institution highly preferred
Knowledge and use of APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) practices will be looked upon favorably
Position Success Criteria:
Thorough knowledge of planning and scheduling. MS Excel and Word proficiency a must.
Considerable knowledge of manufacturing and production, forecasting and inventory management procedures.
Tact and persuasive ability in personal, telephone, and written contacts with company personnel, vendors, and customers to obtain information and cooperation in meeting sales and operating plan objectives.
Must leverage good communication, analytical and PC skills with the ability to problem solve quickly and effectively
