Job Description


Responsible to the Laboratory Supervisor for the chemical functions carried out by the Chemical and Materials Laboratory at Titchfield.  Providing support to the finishing manufacturing processes with timely analysis of the solutions used and recommend additions required. To provide support for the new development of surface treatment processes.


A. Conduct chemical analysis of metal finishing bath contents and provide direction to ensure they meet the relevant specifications and requirements.

B. Develop chemical finishing processes to optimize production performance and efficiency.  Including writing technical reports to justify decision making process.

C. Develop and maintain control measures to ensure conformance and compliance to legal and legislated requirements.

D. Conduct periodic testing for corrosion and coating weight specifications to ensure process is within specification.

E.Assures policies, procedures, and other documentation are followed to ensure compliance.

F.Participate in root cause investigations as problems arise to prevent re-occurrence of failure mode.

G. Assures that Environmental, Health and safety issues are addresses considering local regulations, Eaton policy and good corporate citizenship

H. Creation and amendment of Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.

I.  To act as site technical expert in chemical analysis



  • A Level Chemistry

  • Further Chemistry or Metal Finishing Qualification

  • Theoretical knowledge of the main branches of chemistry.
