Job Description

Eaton Electrical is currently seeking a Summer Intern to join our EHS team!  This position is based at our Airdrie, AB facility.

 

This role supports the processes and department specific objectives at our facility.

  • Assist in the development and delivery of health promotion initiatives and projects related to ergonomics in the workplace. This includes assessing ergonomic hazards/risk, identifying improvement opportunities, collecting any related metrics/measuring outcomes, engaging workers, and delivering training (as needed).
  • Conduct physical demand analysis
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments (computer workstation assessment, NIOSH lifting calculation, tool selection, repetitive work, human factors, etc.)
  • Competent at analyzing and interpreting data, drawing conclusions and formulating initiatives based on determined risk
  • Skilled at interacting with employees from a diverse background to promote ergonomic ideas and projects
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in a College or University program in Industrial hygiene, ergonomics, kinesiology, human factors, physiology, physiotherapy
  • This position does not offer relocation. Candidate must live within 80km of Airdrie
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:                     

  • Prior internship or co-op experience an asset.
  • Strong computer and written skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage projects
 
  • Knowledge in ergonomics best practices in the workplace
  • Need to be able to assess ergonomic hazards and make recommendations for controlling the hazards
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced/changing environment.
  • Strong analytical aptitude and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to facilitate teams/groups and work with all levels of the organization.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office.
  • Effective time management and project management skills.
  • Ability to deal with/manage conflict and resistance to change preferred
