Job Description

Eaton’s Electrical Division is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Technician on 1st Shift. This position is based at our Arden, NC facility.    

 

The Front End Designer will apply technical knowledge to design and develop assemblies through the application of diverse technical principles and practices.  Perform routine drafting and technical work according to established patterns in the processing of inquiries, negotiations, and/or orders from receipt to completion.

  • You will maintain and improve product design standards including bill of material revisions, drawing revisions, selection guide revisions, and new configurations from existing standards (new BOM’s or drawings).
  • You will provide timely resolution to maintenance of line issues that meet the requirements of internal customers.  Provide accurate drawings to manufacturing personnel or outside sources as appropriate.

  • You will check layouts, drawings, and bills of material for completeness and accuracy.  Perform necessary calculations such as: sizes, tolerances, fit, and weights as required proving adequacy of design.

  • You will exercise a working knowledge of shop fabrication, manufacturing, machining, and demonstrate a basic level of Product knowledge.

  • You will be capable of successfully managing complex projects to a timeline and following Eaton's PRO Launch process. These projects may include working directly with Standard Design. (Other Techs, requesters, shop floor, etc.)

  • You will need too proficiently use of EBOM to create new assemblies

  • You will maintain ISO compliant records of our drawings and Bills of Material.

  • You will submit all prototype orders for their assigned product line

  • You will reduce shop/warranty issues by correcting any know pick/design errors

  • You will use Inventor and AutoCAD programs for drafting/designing.

  • You will work/support the Change Management system and the E Turnback system to implement ongoing process and procedural improvements in support of the operation of the department.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in a Technical/Mechanical field from an accredited institution required 

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship on an ongoing basis.

  • No relocation provided. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Arden, NC to be considered.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's in Mechanical Engineering

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited institution.

  • Trained through Kaizen-based training courses for all the Lean tools. Six Sigma Green Belt.

  • Minimum five years CAD/Inventor experience

  • Train and assist other drafters in the use of advanced CAD/Inventor. 

 
Position Criteria:
  • Must be eligible to work in US without company sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Must demonstrate above average skill in AutoCAD, Inventor and Design Automation. 

  • Command a working use of MS Office software suite.  Possess sound verbal and written communication skills.
