Eaton’s Lighting division is currently seeking a Materials Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Vicksburg, MS facility.


The Materials Manager is responsible for managing seven subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of approx. 70 employees in the Purchasing, Physical Distribution, Customer Support, Receiving & Stores and Production Control. This role is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. The Materials Manager carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • You will plan, organize, direct, and control activities related to the procurement function, direct the work of storeroom and central supply personnel engaged in receiving, issuing, and delivering supplies and equipment.

  • You will analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability, and prepare market analysis reports.

  • You will develop a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.

  • You will recruit and maintain suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.

  • You will prepare and review contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.

  • You will oversee all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity.

  • You will assign procurement requests to the appropriate personnel.

  • You will negotiate or supervise the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.

  • You will develop and install clerical and office procedures and practices, and studies work flow, sequence of operations, and office arrangement to determine expediency of installing new or improved office machines.

  • You will arrange for disposal of surplus materials.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a materials function is required

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a management or supervisory role is required

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or MBA preferred

  • SAP experience

  • CPIM certification

  • 5+ years in materials function, including inventory control
