Lead Aerospace Engineer - Hydraulic Actuation Systems

Eaton’s Aerospace division is currently seeking a Lead Engineer – Hydraulic Actuation Systems to join our team. This position is based at our Los Angeles, CA. 

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for supporting new development and existing design of fluid power and motion control systems and components.  In this role, you will provide technical design, testing, and guidance for new product development and product improvements.

The incumbent will create and/or guide the creation of technical documents, including Engineering drawings (following ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.34 standards), test procedures, test reports, and design review material. Present product design and substantiating data and testing, design findings and recommendations to customers and management.

In this function you will:
  • Work with one or more Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to design, test, and implement product designs and design improvements in all phases of a product design lifecycle.

  • Guide and participate in efforts to solve problems with product design, inspection, manufacturing, and test encountered by vendors, company operations personnel, and customers.

  • Support targets and milestones for project budgets and schedules. Participate in resolving program change of scope issues with Engineering Lead and Program Management data and testing, design findings and recommendations to customers and management.

  • Ensure standardization of products and adherence to engineering processes across multiple projects. Support continuous improvement by offering input to standard processes and procedures and cording appropriate updates as required.

  • You will perform component design study and improvement for cost reduction and first pass yield.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with mechanical design
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Los Angeles, CA will be considered.  Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical products
  • Prior aerospace industry experience
  • Experience with ProE
  • Experience with Geometrical Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T) principles and perform tolerance stack-up testing
  • Experience with DFM, DFSS,  DFMEA, and/or DOE
  • Prior experience working as a project lead in a technical environment
  • Prior knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection for engineering design
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and web based information and documentation systems
