The product line management role has responsibility to develop and execute strategic initiatives globally that support growth and profitability of Cable Tray products. These initiatives will include product innovation, commercial programs (focused on agents, distribution, contractors) operational & sourcing improvements, improved services & tools and cost savings initiatives through stage-gate projects. This role directly supports the sales team and manages pricing for the product lines. It will also manage the assigned product lines through the entire product life cycle and develop new market opportunities for those products. In addition, this role will evaluate and help prioritize plant continuous cost reduction and process improvement opportunities.
In this role, you will…
Evaluate product line extension, modification requests from sales team, and/or external customers.
Investigate, evaluate, and prioritize requests from a market, financial, and technical capability perspective.
Prepare a business proposal for projects including target cost and sales price. Projects to include line extensions, related product opportunities for acquisition, vertical sourcing and distribution and any other expansion potential related to the product line.
Evaluate product line cost reduction, modification, and process improvement recommendations from the manufacturing team for market acceptability.
Assemble a development and implementation team and prepare actual development and implementation plan for projects.
Lead or provide direction to the team through the concept, development, implementation and market introduction for the product or product line.
Provide the initial sales forecast, features, benefits and performance data for product literature. Monitor these areas as part of product life cycle management.
Evaluate and recommend changes in core product lines to adapt to market change or to penetrate new markets.
Evaluate competitive product line offerings.
Recommend product line changes as an outgrowth of new technologies.
Coordinate product planning inputs to strategic and annual business plans. Maintain a five-year product plan.
Recommend programs and promotional activities to strengthen B-Line’s market position for sustained product lines.
Bachelor’s degree required from a four year college or university in engineering or business
Minimum of 7 years industry experience at contractor, engineer, manufacturer, or distributor in communications & data end markets
Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering, sales, or marketing
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Aptitude and affinity for technical product details, including the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and drawings
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, think analytically, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to communicate clearly with team, conduct presentations, and be flexible and organized
