Job Description

Eaton’s eMobility division is currently seeking a Product Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Tijuana facility.

The Product Engineer  is responsible to follow the production cycle and works with marketing, design and manufacturing to ensure that the product meets the needs of customer and meets the product specifications. Provides proactive and reactive support for the product line to ensure the products continue being manufactured without interruption. Coordinate development and production launches of new products, lines transfers and/or changes to existing products. Strong focus on product manufacturing “Cost Out” efforts

Some activities related with the position will be:

  • Contribute to achieve the High Five metrics of the focus factory.

  • Participate on Tier meetings related to the focus factory

  • Provide product line support in design activities and/or modification of hardware.

  • Lead “Cost Out” activities from an engineering and material perspective

  • Work with internal and external customers to design and develop solutions to meet customer’s needs.

  • Lead and provide RFQ for new products .

  • Lead all NPIs gates and sub-processes reviews. Provide required information and participate in all weekly, monthly projects pulsing for NPD programs.

  • Full responsibility for Timing, Specs compliancy, Budget and Product cost. Providing timely reports of the progress, issues and status.

  • Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with key customers and vendors

  • Provide support to outside design resources when appropriate (e.g. PCB layout, software development, test laboratories)

  • Provide support to outside suppliers (part substitutions, test methodology, create and maintain documentation for manufacturing)

  • Recommends component selection and validation

  • Lead “Cost Out” activities from an engineering and material perspective

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Electronics or Mechanics (or similar).

  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar position. Electronic manufacturing environment will be a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of process for electronic products.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.

  • Strong interpersonal communications and leadership skills.

  • Basic understanding of Financial systems and ability to discern issues.

  • Communication, presentation and negotiation skills

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in Project Management (preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC- WHMA-A-620, IPC-7711/21 soldering requirements.

  • Basic knowledge of TS16949 standard.
  • Highly skilled on minitab, solid works, project, autocad, view mate and MFG Pro Management (preferred).

  • SAP experience is a plus
