Eaton Aerospace, Fluid Electrical Distribution, division has an opening for an EHS Engineer. The position is located at the Jackson, MI facility.  

The EHS Engineer ensures test lab level EHS programs, policies, procedures and systems are developed, implemented and sustained to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements and conformance with Eaton Corporation mandates.  Helps drive overall lab successes through employee support and engagement.

  • You will manage and directs site in achieving EHS targets & objectives.

  • You will support and/or manage certain Environmental programs that may require completion of annual reporting requirements and monitoring.

  • You will support and promote zero incident EHS culture through the MESH (Management of Environmental, Safety, & Health) programs.

  • You will manage the development and maintaining of risk assessments at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and opportunities for safety improvements for jobs/tasks.

  • You will manage MESH element champions to complete an annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state, and local regulations. 

  • You will support efforts to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.

  • You will lead injury and illness investigations, as well as near misses, using A3 problem solving (or others) to capture lessons learned and implement corrective, preventive measures to avoid future injuries.

  • You will manage all plant and division waste disposal activity to ensure compliance with applicable regulations

  • You will develop/maintain plant emergency response plans and ensures drills are performed to document plan effectiveness.  May serve as the lab emergency coordinator.

  • You will review lab and division environmental permits and ensure terms and conditions are understood and complied with, ensure required documentation is maintained and required regulatory reports are submitted to the respective agency, e.g., air discharge permits, storm water discharge permits, local POTW permits and NPDES permits as needed

  • You will evaluate proposed projects and proposed new chemicals and ensures plans are in-place and implemented to address EHS compliance issues

  • You will ensure required employee environmental training is completed on-time and documented.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a science, math, computer science, or engineering field from an accredited university

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a product development, engineering test lab, computer science, manufacturing engineering or environmental, occupational health and safety field, OR applicable experience in technical fields.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.  

Preferred qualification:
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience reading test instructions, blue prints and schematics.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience managing projects.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with environmental programs.
