Job Description

Provides a service to Eaton customers, to carry out the installation & maintenance of LV/MV equipment manufactured within the Eaton Electrical business and to maintain other existing LV/MV electrical equipment to fulfill customer requirements in line with Eaton Safety requirements. Can take the lead to support other service engineers as well as being the primary point of contact for our customers during the execution of installation projects.


The essential functions of the role include:

Assess site conditions in preparation for installation & prepare RAMS as and when required to do so
Completes service to the customer and takes the lead engineer position at times
Co-ordinates own work and other LV/MV service engineers whilst on site and follows it through to its final completion
Examines existing installations for future work & co-ordinates with service sales engineers
Performs routine service tasks upon customer’s electrical equipment
Represents the face of Eaton Electrical and provides a good interface with the customer
Produces service report sheets, time sheets and assesses components required to repair switchboards, power factor correction units and medium voltage equipment
Develops self-motivation to ensure completion of each days work to a more than satisfactory conclusion whilst maintaining an excellent working relationship with the customer at all times
Carries out commissioning of supplied equipment for both low voltage & medium voltage switchgear
Produces method statements and risk assessments as required
Abides at all times by the company rules, local environment, labour and safety regulations
Performs jobs on customer sites in according with national/Eaton safety requirements/MESH procedures

This position requires the employee to be on the road and on site 5 days a week completing customer repairs, maintenance, etc. Many times this will mean early morning shifts and/or working into the evening and on weekends.

The incumbent must be willing and able to drive around the UK & Ireland and have a comfort level with self-navigation on both motorways and remote locations. Travel will be approx. 60-80%.

A clean driving license is required to comply with the site work requirements of this position, in addition to allowing for Government clearance for specific site work.


o Minimum of Mechanical or Electrical (preferred) HNC or equivalent
o Low Voltage switchgear knowledge
o Medium voltage switchgear & network knowledge is essential
o Experience of MV & LV maintenance
o In depth knowledge of switchboard designs both past and present is preferred
o Good electrical understanding is required, min of 5 year’s experience in the electrical industry
o Problem solving skills and the ability to react and resolve in a positive manner
o Ability to handle extreme pressure from customers and think on their feet
o Good oral and written expression skills required for communicating with customers and reporting technical subjects
