This exciting role is to provide leadership to the team on industrial networking and communications technology focused on IoT &embedded software development to be used across all Eaton products.  This role will include contributing to the architecture, design and implementation of secure, reliable, integrated, and reusable platforms. He/She would be responsible for implementing strategies and focus around Internet of things (IoT), embedded software, connectivity, industrial networking technologies and solutions. Partnering to build and leverage synergies between various electrical sector divisions will be important in this role. Collaboration with teammates from Eaton India Innovation Center (Pune) and Electrical & Industrial sector divisions in North America for new product developments, sustaining engineering and continuous improvements will be required. Additional requirements include building organization capabilities by attracting, hiring and developing top talent for CCIS division.


Your essential responsibilities


  1. Oversee connectivity platform projects from specification, implementation, test, and production support for new product adoption efforts

  2. Oversee architecture and transition/migration of on-premise offerings to SaaS

  3. Develop project plans and allocate development resources for a platform adoptions

  4. Work with geographically dispersed and cross functional teams to facilitate work across the business unit

  5. Adopt agile development, continuous integration and continuous delivery principles to effectively deliver code in an automated fashion

  6. Establish workflows and controls for monitoring key metrics associated with application development and related system processing performance

  7. Mentor and coach to develop a high performing engineering team as a servant leader.

  8. Possess and instill a passion in our team for learning and continuous improvement

  9. Reduce tech debt and make improvements to existing systems


If you are:

  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related discipline

  • 12+ years’ of prior management experience on varied software development projects, demonstrating hands-on technical leadership and people management

  • 5+ years’ experience developing and proven experience leading teams in the delivery of mission critical, high business value products and services on time and with high quality

  • Highly organized and demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, keep projects on schedule, and ability to address quickly changing business requirements

  • Proficient in gathering product and business requirements and translating those requirements into actionable development tasks and deliverables

  • Experience leading teams in a fast paced Agile environment

  • Experience with creating reusable and scalable working code base that can be adopted by multiple products

  • Proficient in leading teams using Scrum methodologies for product and service development

  • Knowledgeable with various programming and scripting languages such as C++, C#, JavaScript, and Python

  • Knowledgeable with Embedded Linux and various drivers and  board support packages

  • Knowledge of Industrial communications protocols (e.g. 610850 GOOSE, DNP3, Modbus)

  • Working knowledge of networking protocols and concepts (e.g. WebSockets, HTTP, TCP, MQTT, AMQP)

  • Abreast of upcoming software development/engineering tools, trends, and methodologies

  • Exceptional communications skills, verbally and in writing, are required

  • Master’s degree in computer science/engineering or related discipline

  • Proficiency in Linux OS for embedded applications

  • Knowledge of security concepts such as encryption, certificates, and key management

  • Experience with embedded software development

  • Experience with relational and NoSQL database technologies
