Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Lead Shipping Clerk to join our team.

This position is based at our Jackson, MI facility.


The Lead Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing documentation for work orders to be released to the shop floor. In this role, you will complete invoicing transaction for all shipments. This includes utilizing customer portals, completing ASN(Advanced Shipment Notifications), various carrier specific labels, ITAR specific documentation, export documentation, and government contract management. Performs transactions necessary to invoice customer orders specific to each customer requirement and ship method. Conducts auditing functions to verify correct shipments. Manages overtime to the shipment forecast. Support the Supply Chain Group by providing the necessary operations support for the organization such as executing manufacturing work orders, shipping and receiving, maintaining files, and providing back-up support for all plant operation support areas.

  • You will maintain a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and expert knowledge in the areas of shipping procedures and processes.

  • You will proactively address changing priorities; and positively manage projects, initiative, and activities under tight deadlines.
  • You will coordinate oral and written communications between internal/external customers, supply chain management and staff.
  • You will work proactively with internal/external customers to ensure timely delivery of customer requirements while upholding the standard work procedures of the shipping office.
  • You will creatively think of delivery solutions to ensure shipment forecast dollars are hit daily/monthly and self-monitors the progress to the target throughout the work day.
  • You will drive effective relationships with employees as well as external clients (e.g., key customers)
  • You will understand and analyze supply chain information and develop innovative methods and procedures for corrective actions within the department and/or division.
  • You will bring shipping/invoicing errors to the attention of the immediate shipping supervisor to put preventative measures in place.
  • You will provide assistance to other key staff members and functional projects as needed.
  • You will support Continuous Improvement culture by attending tier meets as appropriate and compiling appropriate data when needed.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 of Jackson, MI will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert functional, administrative office and project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to respond to detailed inquiries in situations where others may not be knowledgeable or research may be required.

  • High level of ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule as necessary to meet project requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of individuals in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Team oriented problem solving skills and corrective action methodology. Strong knowledge and understanding of engineering principle and practices.
