The purpose of this position is to coordinate project activities related to Electrical Product Group’s (EPG) tail spend suppliers to drive optimal cost and conditions (commercial, quality, delivery). This position is expected to collaborate with other functions (operations, quality, logistics, engineering) for resourcing and rationalization.




Your essential responsibilities:


  1. Execute direct material cost out projects under tail spend management via Eaton Standard Sourcing Process.

  2. Coordinate project management activities and support tail spend program manager as and when required

  3. Maintain a strong knowledge management database which can be leveraged for Sourcing decisions.

  4. Support new projects in program management through data analysis, coordinating user technical reviews, request for proposal process with external suppliers, APQP, and gate reviews.

  5. Follow up with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely value capture in Cost Out Database (CODB) tool

  6. Participate in risks assessment and risk management along with the project teams comprising global SCM leaders and commodity managers

  7. Ensure projects meet their financial& operational goals (KPIs) viz cost out, cost avoidance, productivity gain and on time & accurate deliveries.

  8. Manage the supplier quality interface (APQP) to ensure that PPAP requirements are understood and met, including assisting in issue resolution for components identified as “high risk.”  Interface with suppliers, product engineering, and the Eaton plant to drive on-time project completion. Work projects through ramp up and successful launch.

  9. Develop strong positive ethical relationships with suppliers & adhere to Eaton’s Code of Conduct.

  10. Coordinate the exchange of technical information regarding product and product processing with adequate safeguards for confidentiality in compliance with Eaton Data Management policies


If you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Preferably Mechanical OR Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
  • Minimum 5-6 years’ experience as a commodity buyer for one of the commodities (Casting, Forging, Electrical & Electronic Components, Stampings, Plastics)
  • Project management certification preferred but not mandatory
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio & Project)
  • Ability to communicate clearly & effectively in person, via e-mail and over phone

  • Proficient in the development and tracking of internal metrics

  • Strong project and time management, organizational, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from associates to the leadership team.

  • Quick response to deadlines
  • Reporting and Analytics – Should have good experience on data analysis, report preparation and presentation to project team
