Eaton’s Electrical division is currently seeking a NPI Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.

This position is based at our Tijuana facility.

The NPI Manufacturing Engineer is responsible to coordinate development and production launches of new products, lines transfers and/or changes to existing products. Will serve as the customer liaison at specified periods in the life of the project, coordinate appropriate communication and documentation (both internal and external to the facility), provide direction and manage all aspects of the project and/or the program development.

Some activities related with the position will be:

  1. Responsible of coordinating and executing the industrialization of new products related to NPI and/or transference program, according to the published best practices with the objective of achieving flawless execution of new product as they are introduced into the manufacturing process.

  2. Responsible of preparation, readiness and execution of Engineering runs for NPI and/or transference programs.

  3. Responsible for working within engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products or platforms.

  4. Works with process subject matter experts to incorporate best practices in areas such as product assembly and test, parts production (e.g. molding and stamping), and leveraging of supplier management approaches

  5. Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with key customers and vendors

  6. Lead NPI gates and sub-processes reviews. Provide required information and participate in all weekly, monthly projects pulsing for new product and/or transference programs.

  7. Performs cost and investment analyses to assist business teams in the selection of appropriate manufacturing approaches including complete value stream costs and benefits including supply chain, make vs buy, internal production processes, and logistics.

  8. Lead cost savings initiatives and activities from an engineering and material perspective

  9. Managing stakeholder expectations and providing a professional level of customer service and project management.

  10. Schedule and conduct Management Project Reviews within the framework of Eaton’s PROLaunch.

  11. To coordinate development and production launches of new products and/or lines transfers.

  12. To manage and direct all the activities encompassed with his assigned projects.

  13. Establish and track progress of project scope, timing and budget.

  14. Lead the respective Project Teams in satisfying key project deliverables and timing to ensure customer expectations and deliverables are satisfied.

  15. Assist in identifying and implementing the training and developmental need of project Team members.

  16. Assist in identifying areas for Continuous Improvement of Project Team effectiveness and efficiency.

  17. Schedule and conduct Management Project Reviews within the framework of Eaton’s PROLaunch.

  18. Act as the customer liaison during the development, trial and launch phases of projects, to ensure customer expectations and deliverables are satisfied.

  19. Lead and coordinate the development of RFC for New Products, Lines Transfers and/or changes in existing products.

  20. Facilitate activity targeted at achieving incremental & breakthrough improvement using methods such as Six Sigma, ELS, value added/ value engineering analysis, etc.

  21. Assure that all projects under this position are well planned, completed on time and within budget.

  22. Lead all Pro-launch gates and sub-processes reviews. Provide required information and participate in all weekly, monthly projects pulsing for NPD programs, especially to update R&D metrics.

  23. Full responsibility for Timing, Specs compliancy, Budget and Product cost. Providing timely reports of the progress, issues and status.

  24. Play a full and active part in the design projects, suggesting improvements and ways of accelerating the program and reducing costs.

  25. Record any measurable statistics which the position impacts such as production expenses, maintenance expenses, sales volumes, payroll costs, capital expenditures, research budgets, cost of purchases, value of inventories controlled, employees supervised (direct and indirect).

  26. Work with product management, manufacturing and engineering managers to accomplish the project targets /systems engineers

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 
  • Education and experience on B.Sc level in Electrical and / or Mechanical engineering.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar position. Electronic manufacturing environment will be a plus.
  • 1-3 years of experience on building electronic products (assembly, wave solder, etc)
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in Project Management (For Eaton: PROLaunch)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and engineering processes (APQP, TS16949)
  • Basic understanding of Financial systems and ability to discern issues.
  • Communication, presentation and negotiation skills in an international content with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Marketing and Business-related interest.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in Concurrent Engineering
