Primary responsibility to lead Clutch (Powertrain) manufacturing process design, project planning and execution for the Advanced Manufacturing Powertrain product line (Key Focus Clutch). This includes process conceptualization, feasibility assessment and process validation. Leads capital equipment analysis, vendor selection and development. Plans and manages all manufacturing key project deliverables timing, cost, volumes and quality metrics (WPA - Mfg. Prolaunch deliverables). Additionally supports the regional operations teams to ensure a flawless launch on all Product line launches within in the Eaton, JV and Key supplier sites.
- Prepare capital and
operating cost estimates for new products and changes in existing
products by estimating equipment, tooling, and gauging Investment
. Determines machine production
rates and manning requirements.
- Lead formulation of manufacturing
documentation, including fabrication drawings, process sheets, control
plans and tool layouts. Including alignment cross regions in order to
standardize processes and technologies.
- Write and submit for
approval, appropriation requests for new and replacement equipment,
track and report on project spending.
- Review and evaluate
product designs and recommend changes to facilitate manufacturability.
- Develop and update PFMEAs
working with multi-functional teams.
- Conceptualize, develop,
and approve designs of special tools, machines, and gauges for
- Coordinate and perform
machine runoffs to measure process and machine capability using SPC at
vendor’s and Eaton’s facility and supervise in-house installations.
- Lead transition from
project to operations through training and informing
operators, quality control technicians, front line leaders, and
management on improved process techniques and new manufacturing concepts.
- Work with purchasing and
product engineering to develop rough and finish material drawings for purchased
- Meet with team members and
present current equipment, process development, and appropriation
spending progress on projects at regular design review committee
- Ensures ALL requirements are met in accordance to the Environmental
Health and Safety System in relation to overall production process,
machine specifications and operator ergonomics
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
5 years engineering experience in a machining or manufacturing production environment
Project management experience
Basic skills in Microsoft Office
Good communication skills to interact at all levels within the organization as well as component and capital equipment suppliers
Familiarity with continuous improvement framework
Familiarity with Environmental Health & Safety
Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Ability to learn from technical experts and apply new knowledge
Budgetary/cost analysis experience
Prior hands on experience with production machining, grinding, and assembly equipment
Equipment troubleshooting experience using schematics and drawings
Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
Familiarity with problem solving methodologies, e.g., 8D, 5 Why, A3
