Eaton’s Electrical sector is currently seeking a District Sales Manager to join our team.

The District Sales Manager is responsible for:

Directing all sales activities in their region in order to achieve performance goals in accordance with marketing and sales plans.  This position provides coaching, directing and training for sales professionals in their respective assignments; help them succeed at managing and developing their customer base; leveraging internal and external sales resources; driving products and the channel in order to achieve market share gains; support price attainment goals; and support strategic initiatives throughout the district.  This role will be expected to build close relationships with key customers and distributors to enhance sales volume and customer service.  It is essential to understand major competitors’ tactics, organization, distribution strategy and pricing while keeping management informed of trends and changes.  This position will be responsible to ensure that strategic and district operation plans, major product launches and key programs are properly planned, executed and managed.

In this role you will:
  • Establishing new relationships and building on existing relationships with key customers and distributors to enhance sales volume and customer service.

  • Plan, direct and drive the sales resources to ensure that adequate coverage is applied to accounts.

  • Understand competitors’ products, tactics, strategy, pricing, and their competitive position in the district.

  • Create strategic plans to implement product line initiatives and product launches.

  • Understand electrical products and their competitive position within the district.

  • Identify, analyze, select and continuously improve the district’s various channels to market.

  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, and continuously improve organizational capabilities of sales personnel.

  • Understand and effectively communicate customer needs internally.

  • Define target projects, manage capital expenditures and identify prime opportunities at key accounts in the target market segments.

This position is based out of our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia facility.


Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Four-year University degree from an accredited institution or Certified Electrical Technologist (CET).

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical sales.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with people management responsibility.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates residing within 80 kilometers of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada facility will be considered.

  • Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Four-year University degree from an accredited institution in Business or Electrical Engineering.

  • Professional Engineer or Certified Electrical Technologist.

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Product line marketing and/or operational experience.

Position Criteria:
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time.
  • Knowledge of electrical products and distribution channels.

  • Knowledge of sales techniques.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, time management, teamwork and presentation skills.

  • Planning and value-added selling skills.
