Job Description

Eaton’s Electrical Division is seeking an Materials Planner located in Greenwood, SC.  
Position Overview :
Responsible for the procurement, pull, flow, expediting of material and identification and resolution of materials issues and shortages within the plant consistent with operating objectives.  Works with Buyers, Stagers, Assembly Technicians, production, and suppliers to assure the effective operation of the materials process and system. 
Essential Responsibilities :
  • Maintain a high level of responsive to our internal and external customers
  • Schedule and Purchase material via MRP through MAPICS and AS400, including material purchases for Service Centers
  • Promote good working relationships with internal suppliers and  within the plant between the SCM Organization, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Quality, and Engineering
  • Promote good working relationships with external suppliers
  • Interpret and Analyze data to make purchasing or planning decisions
  • Expedite materials with suppliers to improve dates to meet customer needs, via email, Vista, and phone
  • Acknowledge and Maintain Shortage dates
  • Resolve invoice holds within 30 days
  • Submit CIF ideas within Supply chain
  • Review production schedule and provide updates in production meetings
  • Maintain supplier promise dates in MAPICS browser for every purchase order
  • Maintain the Kanban system: order sizing, stock levels, part set up, part deletion
  • Proactively manage potential material shortages via MATSYNC (PO past dues, PO critical overdues, PO no promise dates, PO review)
  • Follow buyer and supervisor escalation process
  • Serve as backup for other planners
  • Champion the use and improvement material flow techniques.
  • Help to identify and disposition of excess or obsolete inventory while minimizing cost
  • Complete or coordinate the completion of kaizen action items
  • Conduct 5s Activities
  • Participate in continuous flow and standardize work events
  • Maintain system integrity
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:
  • Associates degree from an accredited institution
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • Relocation is not offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate Greenwood, SC area (60 miles) will be considered for this position (with exception of internal candidates currently assigned to one of our Greenwood, SC sites)
Preferred Qualifications :
  •  Bachelor degree in business administration, supply chain, industrial or electrical engineering
  • Associate's degree in business administration, supply chain, industrial or electrical engineering 
  • Strong Communication skills 
  • Proficient Knowledge of MAPICS & AS400 systems:  Inventory Transactions, and familiarity with purchase orders; Knowledge of MRP is a plus
  • Product knowledge of components used in the Greenwood facility
  •  knowledge of computerized inventory systems gained from previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Self-starter with strong critical thinking, problem solving, negotiation, decision making, organizational, planning,
  • Electronic communication skills to include usage and comprehension of basic computer skills (spreadsheet, power point and word software). 
  • Strong math capabilities
  • Excellent computer skills- working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Must understand the demand flow manufacturing process.
  • The position may require overtime and working some weekends
