Associate Product Manager

Job Description

This position is responsible for developing and executing strategic and tactical initiatives to increase growth and profitability of Voltage Regulators as directed by the Product Line Manager.  These initiatives will include driving and optimizing new product innovations, product line extensions and transitions, and cost savings initiatives through the ProLaunch stage-gate process, as well as marketing and promotional activities for existing product portfolios.  This role directly supports business development, executes VOC, market and competitive research, recommends pricing levels, and interfaces cross-functionally to deliver on our customer service promise.  Works closely with Engineering to drive innovation and enhanced customer solutions within the Voltage Regulator business.  The Product Manager must leverage an understanding of the products, applications, markets, competitors and sales channels for Voltage Regulators.


 Essential Functions include:

  1. Proactively gather and interpret competitor and market information and conduct market research to identify and define emerging new product and product adjacency opportunities.  Perform competitive analysis and develop product competitive comparisons as needed.

  2. Identify, gather, quantify and transform VOC (Voice of Customer) inputs into new business opportunities including new product development, existing product optimization, service programs, product rationalization, value engineering, marketing programs and other initiatives to support the overall Product Line Roadmap. 

  3. Manage and oversee the development of the Voltage Regulator Support team providing customer product and application support for product lines of responsibility.

  4. Execute Marketing responsibilities and documentation required in ProLaunch for assigned new product development projects. Provide Product Roadmap input and drive key alignment to the Voltage Regulator business.

  5. Execute product launches (hard and soft), working closely with marketing communications, engineering, sales and product line teams. Develop, maintain, and update product documentation and sales tools to include presentations, website and e-marketing, literature, video, cross references and other marketing tools.  Lead product line’s participation in division wide marketing programs (i.e. trade shows, events, etc.).

  6. Support the Product Line Manager and other stakeholders to develop, update and implement Strategic Plan (annual).

  7. Create and update presentations and spreadsheets as needed (business reviews, profit plan, staff meetings, sales meetings, customer meetings, market share files, etc.). Participate in assigned meetings.

  8. Provide product training / develop training materials for Customers, Eaton sales personnel and Eaton channel partners.

  9. Work closely with Product Line, Utility and C&I Sales and other stakeholders to achieve Profit Plan Financials annually. Attain orders, sales, margin, and vitality sales objectives for assigned new and existing products.  

  10. Recommend and execute pricing actions.  Manage product mix and volume to meet overall product line profitability targets.

  11. Travel as required in position to gather VOC data and to perform essential functions detailed above. 


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marketing, or Business Administration.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, product marketing, engineering or combination

  • Minimum of 3 years of industry experience with a manufacturer, distributor, or large user of power distribution equipment.

  • Knowledge of electrical systems applications, equipment and standards.


    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical).

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or Marketing.

  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience with a manufacturer, distributor, or large user of power distribution equipment.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, product marketing, engineering or combination

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in business development, product management or strategic planning.
