Eaton’s E-Mobility division is currently seeking a Test Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Tualatin, OR facility.


The Test Engineer is responsible for the development of test plans and equipment for Engineering test of products, including power conversion, distribution and protection. In this role, you will work with cross-functional teams including project managers, electrical and mechanical design engineers to create robust test procedures for new products. Develops test automation scripts and procedures to perform lab testing and product validation.

  • You will design and develop test systems for engineering test of products, in conjunction with new product development
  • You will develop schedules and resource plans for testing engineering development projects.
  • You will coordinate with the project management and engineering resources, deliver plans on time, and to specification and certification requirements. 
  • You will develop software and supporting documentation according to established NPD process, utilizing software development tools and verification and validation processes.
  • You will ensure test data are organized, recorded, and retrievable for access and use by Quality organizations.
  • You will participate in project reviews to ensure robust and documented product quality.
  • You will test and debug systems to verify functionality.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field from an accredited institution is required
  • Experience working in an engineering environment
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without out company sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • No relocation is being offered for this role.  All candidates considered must live within 50 miles of Tualatin, OR
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without out company sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field from an accredited institution
  • Software and firmware development experience
  • Project management knowledge and experience
  • Experience with communication protocols such as: I2C, SPI, RS232, CAN, etc.
  • Experience with programming microprocessors
  • Possess working knowledge of Software  tools and concepts
  • Must possess proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Testing and test system design – preferably in electrical power applications
  • Experience with soldering, wiring, prototyping and assembly of electronic and electromechanical devices a valuable plus
  • Experience with processors Software development environments (TI, Microchip, STMicro, Freescale, etc.) a valuable plus
  • Familiarity with power conversion principles a valuable plus
  • Working knowledge of vehicle networked systems using CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet  a valuable plus
  • Experience developing programs and scripts for test automation (such as LabVIEW, Chroma, Test Stand, Test CLIP, Visual Basic, Python, BASH, PERL, etc.)
  • Must be able to lift 40 Lbs
