Eaton’s Corporate Research and Technology organization is currently seeking a Regional Technology Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Menomonee Falls, WI facility.

 

The Regional Technology Manager is responsible for managing a team of scientists and engineers specializing in various technology areas that are part of the Power Systems Technologies (PST) group focused on power conversion and energy networks.  The principal goal includes the execution of the technology roadmaps and portfolio as it relates to the North America region. This role will develop and manage customer relationships with Eaton stakeholders and maintain a sound business case for the projects under their direction.


The team leader is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with the external technical community and academia, and leveraging these partnerships for significant advancements in research in the area of power conversion as relevant for Eaton. Moreover, the position will provide leadership to the department in terms of guidance, coaching and development of the technical staff; selection, retention, and engagement of employees; and administrative leadership for the department.

In this role you will:
  • Champion technology realization programs using our internal project execution processes, including Gate Reviews, Design Reviews, and Technical Reviews

  • Direct the development of advanced technology projects, monitor achievements, and review progress.  This means you will collaborate with Program Managers in the development of detailed project plans and lead globally diverse cross-functional project teams

  • Define, acquire, and upgrade lab/experimental infrastructure as necessary to execute project and support the team in the preparation of capital appropriation requests

  • Foster an environment for creativity while promoting the generation of value added intellectual property.  You will maintain and defend existing patents that cover the technology needs of the businesses.

  • Lead and develop employees and fully utilize those resources to meet global objectives.  You will facilitate global communication and cooperation between locations and assign and manage workload to ensure projects are adequately resourced.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in an engineering field from an accredited institution

  • Seven years of industrial or entrepreneurial experience

Preferred qualifications:
  • PhD in an engineering field from an accredited institution

  • Experience in low and medium voltage power conversion and power systems engineering

  • Experience in microgrids, high-power electronics, energy storage, and grid connected converters, alternative power generation and distribution, power systems and electric machine controls

  • Experience with new product development with multiple stakeholders in a matrixed organization
