Eaton is seeking for a Lead Negotiation Application Engineer; this position is located in Mountainside, NJ or Lewiston, ME or Boston, MA or Philadelphia, PA or Pittsburg, PA.Bridgeport, WV, Bekley, WV


This position primarily supports proposal needs for large and/or complex projects pertaining to

EESS major projects related solutions.

  • You will support proposals for the Northeast Region and requests from other locations including US national and provide detailed technical and commercial proposal writing

  • You will respond to requests from Project Operations Managers, NAS Sales, Utility / Cooper & Other Reps, Channel Partners, EESS Market Segment Managers (Utility, Industrial, Government, Commercial)

  • You will support proposals related to Major Projects within the following segments: Utility (distribution / transmission and generation), Hydro modernization, Oil & Gas (Substation and Switchgear) Synchronous Condenser applications. Support Excitation proposals for generation market.  Support of the Government segment group in Hydro / Excitation, and substation construction.

  • You will travel as required for site-visits, customer meetings and sales training meetings and work evenings or weekends to satisfy Bid-Due-Dates.

  • You will do pricing development, construction estimating via subcontractor scope development and providing unique solutions beyond the standard specifications to provide greater customer value.

  • You will do detailed project specification analysis, equipment specification review; contracts terms and conditions review  and monthly reporting of proposal activities.

  • You will do customer Presentations via joint customer visits with various sales channels and presentations and provided to end-users, or other sales channels to help educate and promote our turnkey /complex project capabilities

  • You will do project detailed hand-off and support Ongoing Projects by helping to capture "Extras" on projects which were beyond the original specifications,

  • You will be activity involved in personal professional growth and development and complete twenty (20) hours of recommended Eaton University classes from TAS training program list, including all required annual safety training,

  • You will contribute standardized proposals templates and develop and share pricing or other tools to improve TAS proposal efficiency including contributions to the TAS Proposal Guide,

  • You will provide support to Eaton Application Engineers in efforts to influence customer and consultation specifications, distributing of Eaton Standard Specifications to consultants and End-Users.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • B.S. Engineering Degree (Electrical Preferred) or Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in the electrical power industry.

  • Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license.

  • NO relocation is approved for this position ; candidates must reside within a 50 miles radius of  Mountainside, NJ or Lewiston, ME or Boston, MA or  Philadelphia, PA or  Pittsburg, PA. Bekley, WV, Bridgeport, WV

  • Sponsorship is NOT approved for this position; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years minimum electrical industry related application engineering and proposal development experience with additional experience in electrical power systems, hydro / excitation, synchronous condensers and/or industrial and utility substation construction.

  • Experience with proposal development for Eaton’s entire end markets (Utility, Industrial, Commercial, and Government).

  • Experience with government proposal procedures such as technical and price proposal separation, reps and certifications, and government evaluation factors and experience with GSA purchasing procedures.

  • Experience in writing and reviewing subcontractor work scopes and Subcontractor agreements;

  • being able to evaluate proposals for specification compliance.

  • Experience with risk evaluation and risk management.

  • Estimating experience in substation, switchgear and electrical system installations.  Additional past experience with hydro / excitation / synchronous condensers, micro-grid and battery storage is preferable.

  • Field experience in electrical construction and system integration

  • Engineering/Technical Experience electrical industry related application engineering and proposal development experience with additional experience in electrical power systems, hydro/excitation and/or industrial and utility substation construction.
