CNC Setter

Job Description

As an CNC Setter you will be required to safely progress from reading and interpreting engineering drawings through to methods of machining and the ability to use manual and NC machinery to solve problems.
Work closely with Manufacturing and Quality, coupled with problem solving responsibilities.
Ensure all company policies are adhered to.
Work within health and safety guidelines and adhere to the lean manufacturing, 5’s and environmental procedures.

This position will be best suited to applicants with good practical skills and an interest in engineering based projects.
As a experienced CNC Setter you will be responsible for producing a wide and diverse range of products.



 Job Skills:
• Machine Operator

  • Flexible in approach, with a positive personality and a willingness to learn and adapt
  • Basic numeracy, literacy and Computer skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative
  • Have some experience in operating CNC machines
  • Interpret component drawings supplied as hard copy or computer generated images
  • Produce components in line with customer requirements
  • Checking the component dimensions using a range of measuring equipment to include digital   micrometers, height gauges, verniers  and in process gauging
  • Able to change basic offsets in order to produce quality products
  • Conduct basic routine machine maintenance checks.
  • Ability to manually handle safely


Qualifications


Semi-Skilled – Machine Setter/Operator
 
  • Flexible in approach, with a positive personality and a willingness to learn and adapt
  • Basic numeracy, literacy and Computer skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative
  • Interpret component drawings supplied as hard copy or computer generated images
  • Select optimum cutting speeds and feeds and correct tools for each stage of manufacture
  • Produce components in line with customer requirements
  • Checking the component dimensions using a range of measuring equipment to include digital   micrometers, height gauges, verniers  and in process gauging
  • Conduct basic routine machine maintenance checks.
  • Ability to manually handle safely
  • Have experience on some or all the following CNC equipment:
  • Nakamura Tome:-
    • AS200, Superturn 2 & 3, TW-20, TMC-35
  • Mori Seiki:-
    • CL20-B, SL-15M
  • Daewoo Lynx 200
  • Suga VSNC
  • EMI MEC MS 218
  • Bridgeport VMC 500/16
  • Have some experience in programming using the following Fanuc systems:
  • Fanuc OT, 10T, 21-T. 18i-M, T3, MORIC-T5F
  1. Specialised Knowledge:
Flexible in approach, prepared to work extra hours to achieve task

Basic numeracy & literacy skills

Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative

Same basic requirements as Setter/Operator above, with the addition of:-

Work with 2D manufacturing software (CAD/ CAM) to create tool machine cutting programs

Be familiar with SAP and/or similar MRP systems

Create most cost effective manufacturing route

Select optimum cutting speeds and feeds and correct tools for each stage of manufacture

Have several years experience in setting CNC Lathes & Milling Machines

Demonstrate competence in programming using the following Fanuc control systems:

Fanuc OT, 10T, 21-T. 18i-M, T3, MORIC-T5F

Produce components in line with customer requirements

Checking the component dimensions using a range of measuring equipment to include digital   micrometers, height gauges, verniers  and in process gauging.

Conduct basic routine machine maintenance checks

Ability to manually handle safely
