The Lead Analyst IT position at EITC, will perform the Software Asset Management functions for Engineering Software. In addition, the position will be responsible for Functional Analysis for Design Automation related activities.
Responsibilities under SW Asset Mgmt. Include: Vendor Negotiations, Profit Planning and Cost Out / Avoidance, Software Procurement & Installation, License Administration, Software Maintenance, Trouble Shooting Issues, Metrics / Capacity planning, Software Consolidations.
The incumbent will interact closely with US counterparts and SW licensing team on day to day activities pertaining to the operations of the Engineering SW licensing environment with special emphasis on moving the various Plant Applications to a centrally managed global pool.
Responsibilities under Functional Analyst for Design Automation include: Modeling, configuring, and implementing solutions to meet desired business requirements related to CAD and Design Automation utilizing standard Eaton Software and processes.
The incumbent will interact closely with the engineering teams and US based Design Automation team during implementations and providing third level support as required.
Participates in implementation/enhancement projects for SW Licensing using PROLaunch.
Partners with business users on requirements, processes & systems.
Participates in the entire project lifecycle: analysis of proposed process/system changes.
Gathers requirement using interviews, document analysis, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, process analysis and competitive analysis of SW license costs.
Provides knowledge & input on system implications of process changes.
Completes project related deliverables including future state design documentation and requirements documentation.
Effectively communicates the status for deliverables to project management and leadership to effectively mitigate risks and resolve issues.
Responsible for applying business knowledge and best practices toward solution design for the SW licensing systems.
Software Procurement &Installation: In-depth knowledge about Software Asset Management principles and processes. Manages requirements scope & disposition through process compliance & gap analysis & user acceptance methodology. Negotiate with Vendor, Purchase Order Issuance, Inventory Management -License server key & User Access List & S/Point Vendor Software Asset List update, Deployment of software.
License Administration: Support end to end processes and has intermediate level understanding of system touch points for License Configuration, L2 Operational Support like License Key Updates, Troubleshooting, License Utilization and Denial monitoring, Update User Access List, Software Version upgrade package preparation, License Manager Upgrades, Monitoring Logs for errors, Monitoring disk space usage.
Software Maintenance: Provide knowledge and input on the system implications of business process changes. Validate Master Contract Inventory - Review against existing Inventory and adjust KANBAN level, adjust current Inventory, Validate Users & Charge Backs, Review the budget profit plan amounts for software, validate users that are active employees, Usage analysis on inactive users (>6 months) at renewal time.
Trouble Shooting Issues: Works with other SMEs in the team to ensure proposed solutions are in-line global solutions in relation to License access issues, Capacity analysis, License Borrowing, Client software configuration issues, Compatibility issues - Client version versus license version, Infrastructure issues, Remote access (firewall) issues. Drives continuous improvement.
Metrics / Capacity planning: User accountability (how many users by Bus. area), Trends, Inventory levels& Capacity planning, Utilization reports and follow thru actions to reduce / avoid SW cost.
Internal chargebacks: Review any new purchases incremental from previous year, Determine the Maintenance budget based on current users plus incremental by each software, Prepare the cost sheet for Maintenance on existing software, review existing sheet for any changes and then send out to Software License team managers.
Software Consolidations: Evaluate opportunities for consolidating and standardizing the tool chest across Eaton, Inventory analysis via SMS and vendor, Cost/usage analysis, License consolidation, Software testing for new versions/releases for the license servers.
Design Automation: Strong communication skills - able to interact with engineering leaders at global, divisional and regional levels on implementing Design Automation solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy. Continually improve the DA solutions to meet emerging needs and changes in the tool sets.
- B.Tech / B.E / MCA from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in SW Asset Management in engineering or IT domain
- Certification in SW Asset Management and experience in using IT Service Management application(s) will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Design Automation, Business Systems and Project Management
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Advanced Excel & Advanced Power Point skills for developing required reports and metrics.
