Lead Product Engineer
Eaton’s Aerospace division is currently seeking a Lead Product Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson Michigan facility. Relocation assistance is available.
This Lead Engineer position shall lead innovation and/or new product development projects following a phase gated development approach (PROLaunch) for new coupling solution products for the Aerospace market. The role requires the ability to apply sound engineering principles enabling clean sheet design of innovation to existing products to meet evolving market demand trends for hydraulic, fuel, and coolant systems. This role will also support the development of bill of materials and non-recurring engineering (NRE) cost estimates for new project bids and proposals.

Execute technical deliverables on large projects within the PROLaunch development process through the use of the Aerospace Common Engineering Standards.
Design and develop new products or re-design current products to meet customer requirements via cross functional collaboration with customers and an internal team including Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management as well as product or process subject matter experts.
Identify project technical and schedule risks and quantify impact of realizing the risk.
Evaluate design trade-offs using Design for Six Sigma tools.
Develop project technical execution plans to meet customer requirements and quote the labor, material, and other direct costs (MODC) required to execute the development and qualification programs, addressing technical risks prior to qualification.
Apply statistical and analytical tools towards effective problem-solving and completion of project activities.
Direct and support other global engineering resources for timely completion of project objectives.
Lead structured problem solving efforts and/ or failure analysis to solve issues in a timely manner.
Conduct internal, supplier, and customer design reviews.
Write test procedures and qualification reports in support of program deliverables.
Lead process improvement efforts at local or cross functional level.
Support product engineering function goals such as the review of engineering standards, engineering process improvements, and 5s.
Decompose system level requirements to assembly and component level critical to quality (CTQ) requirements.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from accredited institution
5 years’ experience in a Design Engineering or experience as an Engineering Manager
Knowledge of analysis tools, boundary conditions, and constraints.
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Proficiency in CAD (CATIA V5 preferred)
Understanding of design evaluation techniques such as reliability analysis, statistical tolerance stack up, Failure Mode and Effect analysis (FMEA), etc.
Proficiency in Product Data Management systems for document control and workflow management (ENOVIA is a plus)
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution
The ideal candidate would have 6-8 years’ experience in Aerospace component design and development.
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green Belt certified
Knowledge of fluid conveyance related products, manufacturing techniques and materials
Familiarity with continuous improvement tools such as value stream mapping, Kaizen, etc.
Position requires interaction with customers, customer representatives, auditors, regulatory agencies and all internal departments/functions/levels.
Creating and maintaining electronic documentation for manufacturing.
Supporting manufacturing with part substitutions and other manufacturing concerns.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite tools
Ability to manage multiple priorities and switch focus efficiently
Ability to compose clear and concise written communication
