Job Description

Eaton’s Power Systems division is currently seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Waukesha, WI facility.
In this role, you will support Eaton’s Quality Management System (EQMS) by executing the Quality Assurance strategy and utilizing Eaton Business System (EBS) tools to ensure product meets all government regulations and customer requirements. The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for providing quality assurance support to customers, suppliers, partners and internal manufacturing cells, reviewing and reporting out on the day-to-day plant leading and lagging quality indicators, and providing leadership support to the quality technicians.  A successful candidate will participate in continuous improvement activities as well as work cross-functionally.

  • You will provide Quality interface and expertise between the organization and its customers and suppliers to proactively assure that their needs and expectations are understood and satisfied. This includes using a variety of problem solving tools, responding to internal or external customer corrective action requests including full root cause analysis, determining and implementing permanent corrective actions and validating the results.
  • You will drive and lead problem solving efforts and root cause analysis activities using 8-D methodology in order to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances. 
  • You will determine process capabilities and identify improvement opportunities.
  • You will develop and implement Poke-Yoke (error proofing) methodology throughout the facility.
  • You will use Six Sigma methodology and other Lean Manufacturing tools to drive improvements and solve complex problems.
  • You will participate in the design of gages, measurement instruments and test equipment.
  • You will perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA) throughout the facility and recommend improvements in measurement methodology.
  • You will drive reduction of Defective Parts per Million (DPPM) and improvement in First Pass Yield (FPY) of manufactured products by implementing process improvements and driving a quality culture.
  • You will respond to customer complaints and issue Quality Alerts on a timely basis.
  • You will work with Design and Manufacturing Engineering and other functions in the development of Process FMEA’s, Process Control Plans and Process Capability Methods & Requirements.
  • You will collaborate with design & manufacturing engineering, production, and lean departments to develop methods and improve manufacturing processes to eliminate failure modes/quality issues and reduce Cost Of Non Conformance (CONC)
  • You will coordinate the Internal Audit program and follow-up on associated corrective and preventive actions.
  • You will develop, implement and audit control plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures / work instructions.
  • You will review daily in-process metrics to help determine priorities.
  • You will contribute in the design and implementation of quality assurance training programs and conduct training in quality-related topics throughout the organization
  • You will promote the company’s mission and vision by actively supporting Eaton’s ethics and values as well as quality policies.
  • You will perform other related duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
  • You will support the quality manager and prioritize quality functions in regard to quality issues elimination / reduction and production requirements.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution required
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this role. Only candidates who currently reside within 50 miles of the Waukesha, WI site will be considered for this role.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working in a quality role in a manufacturing environment
Position Success Criteria:
  • Proficiency in Minitab, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and activities efficiently with drive for results
  • Detail oriented and maintains detailed records
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Effectively communicates the status of tasks, projects, or hardware as the status or priorities change.
  • Exhibit a high level of motivation, sense of urgency, and energetic approach to job duties and requirements
  • Executes problem solving techniques
  • Expert skills in using and training quality tools (i.e., Fishbone Diagrams, 5-Whys, 8D, Gage R&R, FMEA, SPC, etc.)
  • 1 year experience with team facilitation experience and ability to gain buy-in and drive change
  • Knowledge of ISO-9001 procedures
