This exciting role is responsible for working independently on the assignments and projects pertaining to new product design, sustaining engineering, application engineering, testing, cost out and product improvements, assigned by the Lead Engineer/ Engineering Manager of the associated business group. Person will also be responsible for handling all communication with stakeholders regarding the work in hand and coordinate all related activities to complete the projects.
Your essential responsibilities:
Delivers on engineering assignments as a project lead, involving product design, testing and preparation of specifications, process studies, or research investigations using appropriate tools and techniques such as DFSS, DFR, DMAIC, etc.
Ensures design compliance for detailed CAD 3D models and drawings per design standards (GD&T, tolerance stack, etc) and procedures governing product design methods, including key characteristics on drawings, documents and data control for the Aerospace group.
Ensures quality of drawings/ concepts created to meet Eaton and customer standards / requirements. Actively lead product benchmarking/ tear down activities, brain storming sessions & design reviews.
Take initiative in deployment of the Aerospace group directives such as AS9100c, 5S, EBE, execution excellence, use of DFSS in designing, etc.
Effective in communicating & negotiating technical dialogue with team members, other departments and internal /external customers & stakeholders.
Implements/ suggests changes to manufacturing processes to improve new and existing designs. Responds to customer inquiry regarding product function and design with complete solutions.
Continuously develops & enhances the technical capabilities to provide best in class design in line with present and future business needs.
Adhere to organizational processes including engineering processes (DFMEA, DFSS), Eaton corporate processes pertaining to R&D and New Product Introductions and applicable regulatory compliance.
Mentors & develops junior team members
Authorizes development testing plans and related testing including reporting of test results.
Plan & execute product realization roadmap activities to accomplish progress towards successful product launches
If you are:
Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
ME/M.Tech in Mechanical or related engineering area with 4+ years of engineering/product design experience in relevant domain
Experience in complete product development life-cycle working with cross-functional teams
Experience of product prototype development and testing
Proficiency in one or more CAD tools; Preferably CATIA and experience with PLM tool
Hard working ability and desire for excellence in executing projects
In depth understanding of manufacturing processes and product engineering tools
Attention to details
Problem solving skills
Strong & effective communication skills (written and oratory)
Drive for Innovation with an aim to create business impacts
Awareness of DFSS tools like FMEA.FMECA, Monte Carlo Analysis etc.
