Eaton Corporation’s Airport Lighting Product Division has an opening within our Electrical Product Group for a Financial Controller located in Windsor, Ct.
Position Overview :
Partner with the Global Product Line Manager of the Airport Lighting business to provide leadership and drive business results.  Provide leadership to the organization in conforming to financial policies, legal requirements and US GAAP.  Drive process improvements within the finance organization, create and implement policies and procedures to improve the control environment, and provide increased transparency of results.  Provide guidance and support in consolidating, reporting and analyzing monthly results, forecasts and plans.  Provide insightful analysis to drive the development of challenging objectives and the action plans to achieve them.

Essential Functions:
  • You will develop and coordinate Business Unit profit plans, monthly forecasts, goals and objectives, financial reconciliations, and reports and analysis for Plant Management, including variance analysis and cost control reporting and recommendations.
  • You will advise and counsel Plant Manager and Business Unit leadership team on the financial implications of operating strategies, cost control actions, and decisions.
  • You will manage, analyze, evaluate, and interpret Business Unit financial forecasts and operating results.  Inform Management of results and recommend corrective actions to address unfavorable variances.
  • You will review, analyze, and evaluate financial data and information for accuracy, consistency, and transparency.  Maintain integrity of financial reports.
  • You will interpret, implement, and monitor Corporate policies and procedures, ensuring that financials are reported in compliance applicable requirements.
  • You will develop and implement budgeting and financial reporting systems to provide timely and relevant information to the Business Unit and Division.  Control and maintain adequate product costing systems for valuation and cost estimating activities.
  • You will act as Business Unit liaison with regard to Terms & Conditions.
  • You will take ownership of account reconciliation process to maintain integrity of Business Unit General Ledger and its supporting sub-systems.  Assess adequacy of reserves and overall financial reporting.  Ensure adequate training and oversight is provided to all Finance personnel to ensure that account reconciliations meet Eaton's requirements.  Provide leadership and support for the Balance Sheet Review process. 
  • You will establish, monitor, and maintain a system of internal controls that safeguards company assets and provides for integrity and propriety of financial transactions and activities.  Maintain compliance with Corporate policies, including SOX.
  • You will evaluate and approve Business Unit capital appropriation requests.  Monitor and report purchase commitments and spending for all capital programs.  Conduct follow-up audits to ensure compliance for all significant capital investments. 
  • You will manage hiring, training, and development of financial staff.  Establish a work environment that encourages individual career development and growth in order to provide adequate opportunity for advancement.
  • You will monitor and support continuously improving Plant Productivity / Gross Utilization and other Operations initiatives.
  • You will provide leadership to ensure that adequate cost accounting processes are in place, including standard cost updates, physical inventory verification, periodic cycle counts, etc.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Economics
  • Minimum of 7 years of Finance or Accounting experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or Master degree in Finance, Accounting
  • CPA
  • 10 plus years experience
  • Business Controller experience
  • Conversant and familiar with  Six Sigma problem solving skills 
Position Criteria:
  • Sound working knowledge of GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley and local statutory requirements  
  • Knowledge and understanding of Corporate, Division, and Plant reporting policies
