  • Lead Engineer
  • Your key deliverables:
  • To act as the component technical lead for complete fuel sub-system programmes as directed by the Engineering or Project Manager.
  • To co-ordinate internal and external resources and provide technical leadership to a team of multi-disciplinary engineers such that projects are delivered to specification, on time and to budget.
  • To ensure that technical, regulatory and commercial requirements are properly understood by the technical project team and that the design implementation meets these requirements.
  • To act as the technical point of contact for the customer and to improve customer relations.
  • To review and authorise technical documentation in accordance with company procedures, including but not limited to:
  • Engineering Plans
  • Equipment Specifications
  • Co-ordination memos and meeting minutes
  • Test Schedules
  • To lead the technical project team through the full development lifecycle of the programme, including but not limited to:
  • Ensure ProLaunch/ACES Engineering activities are completed per the agreed review timeframes
  • To generate technical review datapacks and present them at Engineering Reviews
  • Lead technical presentations at internal and external design reviews
  • Lead internal and external team meetings
  • To authorise estimates on workpackages and the identification of risks with suitable mitigation.
  • To lead in the preparation of technical proposals.  To have the technical understanding and commercial intuition to produce competitive tendering documents.
  • To lead failure investigations associated with fuel system product.
  • To support and champion cost out initiatives throughout the business in line with ELSS philosophy.
  • To keep up to date with latest aerospace technology especially that related to aircraft fuel system and general pump performance.
  • To provide technical direction for future research and development, identifying emerging technologies.
  • To maintain a well organised project filing system and working environment in line with ELSS.
  • Qualifications

    Are you a lead engineer at the moment supervising and leading teams within this function?


    Experience required


    • At least five years engineering experience in a relevant professional engineering environment ideally gained in the aerospace or equivalent high technology industry.
    • Experience leading a multidisciplinary technical team.
    • Proven ability to develop appropriate relationships at all levels within and outside the organisation.
    • Experience generating, reviewing and authorising technical documentation.
    • Familiarity liaising and managing customer expectations.
    • Experience presenting at internal and external technical and commercial reviews.
    • In depth knowledge of aerospace fuel system technology.
    • Understanding of the properties and behaviours of aviation fuel.
    • Experience generating activity based project schedules.
    • Engineering degree or equivalent (MSc or MEng preferable)
