Job Description

Eaton’s Electrical division is currently seeking a CNC Machinist to join our first shift team. This position is based at our La Grange, NC facility.


The CNC Machinist will set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts, and fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.

  • You will study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. 
  • You will measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining. 
  • You will select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers. 
  • You will calculate and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media. 
  • You will set up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. 
  • You will fit and assemble parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools, and power tools. 
  • You will verify dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks. 
  • You will install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • High school Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
  • No relocation is provided. Only candidates within 50 miles of La Grange, NC will be considered for this position
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be able to learn machining and tool making operations 
  • Must be able to perform basic math functions 
  • Must understand basic CNC control functions 
  • Must be able to perform operations that may require heavy lifting 
  • Must be Safety, Quality conscious and dependable
