Eaton’s Aerospace Fluid Electrical Distribution division is seeking a Senior Product Engineer–Additive Manufacturing to join our team. The position will be based at our Beltsville, MD facility.
The Senior Product Engineer–Additive Manufacturing is responsible for guiding the Additive Manufactured (AM) design and technology development for the additive applications in the joints product line. Reports to Engineering Manager, Low Pressure Joints technology.  The purpose of this position is to accomplish the Research and Development of AM and non-metallic products for the fluid conveyance systems of Aerospace platforms. The role requires the ability to apply sound concepts, practical problem solving, and phase gated engineering tools in an organized and timely way. Projects will focus on iR&D execution and develop into the subject matter expert for AM and other IR&D projects. There will be opportunities to flex to the full lifecycle of the product lines so lessons learned and product expertise can be leveraged to IR&D.

  • You will guide new product development of additively manufactured applications for the joints product line.
  • You will respond to Sustaining Engineering issues, developing timely, cost effective solutions to product life cycle goals or problems. Support vendor change delta qualifications, manufacturing issues, and legacy product maintenance.
  • You will provide technical support to all internal departments, suppliers and customers as it relates to existing products.
  • You will Perform mechanical design and dimensional testing. You will perform preliminary structural, thermal, dynamic, and performance testing for design validation. Interface effectively with applicable COE resources to accomplish complete product testing.
  • You will create manufacturing drawings and coordinates machining for additive manufactured components.
  • You will define test procedures and setups for development, acceptance, and qualifications.
  • You will Identify additional additive manufacturing opportunities within the product line and works with the Aerospace additive manufacturing team to put together a side-by-side economic model and value proposition.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 year of Additive Manufacturing experience. (Internships, Co-ops, research program, work studies, any work experience completed during undergrad and/or grad school etc will be counted toward the 2 year minimum.)
  • Minimum of 1 year of mechanical design or 3d CAD modeling experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of Beltsville, MD 20705 will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with Additive Manufacturing or metallic and composite.
  • Proficiency in CATIA v5 and PRO Engineer Wildfire.
  • DFSS: FEA/FEM experience, testing, Green Belt, DOE Design of Experiments.
  • Testing and Certification of Aerospace Components. RTCA - DO160.
Position Success Criteria:
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Demonstrated management skills, experience with design processes, successful new product introduction experience, creative/innovative thinking. 
  • Proven track record of driving change and ability to execute technology development plans.
  • Knowledge of AS1650, AS1895, AS7510, AS1710, or Aerospace Fluid Conveyance a plus.
  • Understanding of fluid conveyance related products, manufacturing techniques, and material science.
