The position will have primary responsibility to support tax matters of China and support tax projects including in-house tax consulting, tax compliance, transfer pricing, supporting outside tax audits and tax compliance including satisfying documentation requirements for local and US compliance purposes.
This position reports directly to North Asia Tax Manager.
A. Drive value for Eaton worldwide through supervision of tax compliance and provision of tax consulting.
B. Provide support to ensure that Eaton remains compliant with local and US GAAP tax reporting requirements.
C. Proactively support to review and analyze major acquisitions, divestitures, business integration or other business transactions from tax perspective, identify necessary tax reporting requirements, as well as technical research on tax rules and practice
D. Work with Regional Tax Managers and the tax leadership team at WHQ to understand Eaton’s business operations and support to develop and implement strategic tax structures in response to the changing business environment.
E. Interact with the international tax strategy group to analyze internal reporting requirements.
F. Independently monitor and analyze changes in local country tax laws in mainly PRC, regulations and judicial precedence in order to recommend appropriate, timely reactions and create value through appropriate planning, as well as provide timely notification and training of new tax rules to local teams concerned.
G. Proactively support to manage the tax compliance function by working with internal Eaton resources and outside consultants. Streamline the compliance process. Able to independently identify potential exposure areas and appropriate responses.
H. Support to manage local tax audits.
I. Act as part of the go-to resource on tax technical matters for mainly PRC in order to reduce outside service expenditures. Able to provide tax advice independently with quality and efficiency.
This position requires 3 to 5 years’ experience in PRC tax, with working experience in the tax department of big 4 firms would be a plus. Excellent candidate with limited tax experience can also be considered. A Bachelor’s Degree is must and degree of tax or accounting is preferred. In addition the position requires a person with good skills or knowledge in the following areas:
A. Issue recognition ability during a change in operating facts.
B. good analytical thinking skill
C. Ability to successfully multi-task across numerous highly complex projects.
D. Accounting – Because the tax laws are applied to financial transactions, must understand how transactions are recorded and reported on the books and how and where tax accounting rules differ from book accounting rules. Also necessary to analyze complex financial transactions in order to determine which tax laws apply.
E. Computer skills – Must be fluent in the use of standard software, such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
F. Fluent in English/Chinese, both speaking and business writing.
G. Communications – Must be able to clearly communicate tax explanations, answers, recommendations or alternatives regarding complex financial transactions and legal issues to both tax and non-tax personnel.
H. Interpersonal skills – Must interact effectively with people, both inside and outside Eaton with diverse backgrounds, languages and different objectives.
I. Business Judgment – Understand how tax decisions or plans impact other areas such as Treasury and Operations and develop, recommend and implement tax strategies consistent with non-tax objectives.
