Job Description

Eaton’s Power Components Division is currently seeking a Production Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Horseheads, New York facility.
 
The Production Manager with manage and direct the Assembly and Test Manufacturing teams (manufacturing supervision) to ensure the achievement of the plant goals focusing on on-time delivery, cost-out, productivity, cost containment, quality and safety.

  • You will direct responsibility for Assembly and Test manufacturing.
  • You will be accountable for Assembly and Test throughput, on-time performance, quality, and productivity. Manages efforts to improve quality and cost of all products, processes and services of the operation.
  • You will assure ISO 9001, ISO 140001, OSHA, and EHS compliance plus drives for continuous improvement in safety, workplace organization and cleanliness.
  • You will develop subordinates to optimize their performance and their personal and professional growth. You will make sure all departmental and individual goals are directly aligned with overall plant goals.
  • You will establish a good working atmosphere with strong ethics and establishes a good working relationship with the union.
  • You will assure continuous communications and employee participation throughout the organization. Fosters teamwork between departments and within the department.
  • You will address unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and hazards in respective work area(s), and evaluate the ensuing corrections.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum 2 years of operations and/or manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA from an accredited institution.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Operations Management from an accredited institution, preferred.
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Certification, strongly preferred.  

Position Success Criteria:

  • Diversified background with strong engineering, technical, business, and manufacturing skills.
  • Must also display detailed knowledge in the area of Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Total Quality Management, Statistical Process Control Techniques, Capacity Planning, and Inventory Management and Control.
  • An in-depth knowledge of all facets of manufacturing and manufacturing processes, including material planning, scheduling, equipment utilization, material flow, and manpower staffing. 
  • Strong administrative abilities to insure proper budgeting expense control while providing overall direction to the manufacturing operation. 
Must have the ability and like to work with people; the understanding of a person’s strong/weak points is critical.
