Take complete charge of product electronics from customer proposal, through detailed design and product launch phases.
Troubleshoot digital and analog electronic circuits in electronics assemblies.
Participate in requirements analysis, design reviews, cost estimation and other team development processes.
Keep abreast of new components and materials and uses CAD and simulation tools to design and analyze product integrity in order to facilitate rapid deployment.
Participates in and contribute to the development and generation of product requirements specifications based on Voice of Customer (VOC) inputs.
Employs appropriate DFSS tools during product development.
Create the appropriate technical documentation: Schematics, BOMs, DFMEA, etc.
Develop and launch new products following the stage-gate process (i.e., PROLaunch).
Work with internal and external design resources when appropriate (e.g. PCB layout, other engineers, software development, test laboratories).
Develop test plans for design validation in accordance with industry standards and customer requirements.
Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with key customers and vendors.
Participate as the lead engineer for electronics in core product development team.
Experience in designing to cost targets.
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in new product development in electronic and electromechanical systems.
•Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
•Electronic hardware design—power electronics, switch-mode power supplies, electrical transient protection schemes, design for EMC, etc.
•Working knowledge of automotive serial data protocols (CAN J1939, LIN).
•Electronic design tools: schematic capture, circuit and behavioral simulation (SPICE, Simplis, Ansys) PCB layout and design
•Experience with C, C++, C# programming and embedded programming
