Eaton’s Electrical EESG CA Division is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer/Technologist. This position is located in our Milton Ontario, Canada Plant.  .
The Senior Product Development Engineer / Technologist will serve as the chief LVDA technical & design resource for the Switchboard, Panel board, and Automatic Transfer Switch product lines, providing technical advice, guidance, and/or training to local Engineering and Operations personnel, and be the sole liaison between LVDA & CED for all matters pertaining to the aforementioned products.

  • You will customize existing CED designs (approved/tested/released) to satisfy live customer order requirements and create new CSA-compliant designs (SWBD, PNBD, ATS) to address gaps in current LVDA product offering, in collaboration with Marketing/Sales
  • You will serve as chief LVDA technical resource for SWBD, PNBD, and ATS product lines, providing technical advice, guidance, and/or training to local Engineering and Operations personnel, and serving as sole liaison between LVDA & CED for all matters pertaining to the aforementioned products
  • You will create & maintain Product Option Matrices to provide real-time visual depiction of available configurations & product line gaps
  • You will lead industrialization of new products/variants (prototyping, validation, testing), ensuring safe, high quality, cost-effective manufacture through application of VA/VE & pFMEA tools, and design-for-manufacture (DfM) principles 
  • You will identify, approve, and implement product improvements to reduce cost & improve quality for assigned product lines
  • You will create & maintain standard drawings/modules, issuing & implementing ECN’s, Deviations, and Product Directives as required
  • You will be accountable for ensuring site adherence to applicable CSA/UL standards, and CED standards/directives; Facilitate CSA/UL compliance audits, serving as a liaison between LVDA and CED for regulatory/compliance matters
  • You will compile cost analyses, as required, for assigned product lines based on extension of hourly rates, burden and material costs, cost of new machine tools and handling of equipment.  This includes specifications for such items as tooling, equipment, mfg. methods (tolerances & special characteristics), and material

 Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Mechanical or Electrical, or Mechatronics or Diploma in
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with Low Voltage Power Distribution Products (Switchboards strongly preferred), with a minimum of 3 years in a Manufacturing or Design Engineering industry
  • 1-3 years of experience using Autodesk Inventor or  3D Modeling software
  • Must be authorized to work in the Canada without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Relocation is NOT approved, candidates must reside within a 80 km radius from Milton, Canada 
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensed P.Eng or CET, strongly preferred 
  • Training and Experience with Lean and Six Sigma Tools- LSS Green or Black belt would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC and related software, including MS Office Suite
  • Strong technical acumen, paired with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, including a keen understanding of common sheet-metal forming/fabrication techniques
  • In depth understanding and experience using and interpreting the Canadian Electrical Code, and applicable CSA & UL Standards
  • Candidate must be familiar with common testing requirements for LV Power Distribution Equipment (short circuit, thermal, seismic, etc), and have proven ability to design-for-manufacturing in an Engineered-to-Order environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to lead projects/teams and consistently achieve results through self & others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong analytical skills & methodical, objective, approach to problem solving
  •  Provide input/support to PPAP process for new components/vendors, as required
