Job Description

A. Develop customized designs for power distribution electrical equipment meeting customer requirements, industry standards and company internal standards and procedures. Creates and maintains product definition Data. Provides support to other functional areas within the company.


Design custom products with standard requirements and also with non-standard requirements where there are not a lot of available guidelines to follow. Creates customized Cad layouts and solutions which usually require existing components to be located and designed into new positions and requirements.

B. Reviews and interprets Design Specs to establish customer requirements.

C. Process the design order information, collaborating and have direct contact with Marketing and CSC as needed to clarify any ambiguity that may jeopardize customer satisfaction.

D. Supplies all information to use the Product Design System, create material Masters, Bill of Materials and Characteristic data in SAP, also responsible to create approval or record Outline drawings and Nameplates, responsible of maintaining all product documentation updated.

E. Generates manufacturing information correctly and in the time that is expected, OTD and Engineering Errors are key metrics to track performance.

F. Understand the various components that are needed in the Product design. Continuously expand knowledge of the products.

G. Provide technical support to manufacturing regarding problems relating to custom designs, specification and functional performance.

H. Complete design and information requests for Manufacturing, Marketing, Proposals, and CSC.

I. Perform other related activities and special projects as assigned.

J. Provides support other members of the team as needed.

K. Defines and Documents procedures to provide variations of standard requirements on the specific product line.

L. Supports Projects to reduce cost and improve productivity, focused on DFM and design quality, capable to support NPD Projects to increase Vitality.


A. College degree in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering or similar.
B. Experience on any CAD tool like Inventor, AutoCAD.
C. English – language capability, speaking, reading & writing required.
E. Management of Bill of Materials.
F. Familiar with Engineering change management process and execution of changes thru PLM or any other system.
G. Knowledge of electric power distribution systems and standards
