As n Engineering Manager, your primary responsibility will be to plan, direct, monitor and manage the Project Engineering service that includes New Product Development, Innovation and Project Management of new tools. The Manager is responsible for setting work direction, ensuring Engineering principles and standards are maintained and incorporated, leadership of project development through PROLaunch and customer dictated systems APQP etc, approval of documents, ensuring accuracy of bill and routes, management of tooling and departmental budgets and utilizing Eaton EBS tools/processes to continuously improve. The Engineering Manager should ensure their team skills and development plans to assure a strong team with succession planned as the business needs. This position reports to the Plant Manager
Your main duties :
  • Utilize sound Engineering judgment to create, apply, document, approve and update Tooling feasibility cad and drawings, Engineering standards, FEA, DFMEA, PFMEA’s, Routings, Standard Work documents etc.
  • Provide Quantified direction to the business to improve Safety, Quality, OTD, Productivity and tool  utilization
  • Develop a team specific strategy which provides direction to the immediate business and is linked to Vehicle group strategy and plant goals
  • Establish new processes/product/[product designs to improve business performance and provide technical edge for this business.
  • Limit Eaton’s exposure to Product Liability by ensuring sound Engineering practices to the necessary industry standards
  • Work within an Engineering organizational structure that supports the Plant, VG  and Eaton Engineering and develop local team competencies to fill succession pipeline.
  • Manage a budget which allows the Engineering team to accomplish its responsibilities while also falling within profit plan expectations
  • Ensure performance appraisals are conducted and guide the professional development of all subordinates in accordance with APEX.  Additionally, evaluate and optimize skills sets for each employee.
  • Develop close professional relationships with customers for developing new products, their requirements, major modifications of existing products, prototype qualification test requirements, and resolve product/tooling performance deficiencies
  • Maintain close liaison with Plant operations to ensure high-quality product integrity, flawless launch of new parts and continuous improvement through EBS tools.
  • Support profit planning efforts for the Plant and manage activity centre budgets as needed throughout the follow-on period of performance and deliver profit plan forecast and other financial expectations.  Deliver new products on budget.
  • Responsible for co-ordinating Project Management through the use of PROLaunch and customer dictated processes such as APQP and driving project execution to ensure timings  and customer expectations are met.
  • Lead daily engineering tier process and attend daily plant tier 3 meeting to ensure the operations have the right priorities short term to meet the business needs.


What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years equivalent experience with progressive levels of responsibility in manufacturing or engineering
  • A thorough understanding of financial practices is required
  • Background of plastics in any mould tooling, metal to plastic conversion, materials expertise etc
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Strong leadership
