Job Description

The Plant Manager leads and manages all resources in the Watertown, WI manufacturing plant and assures that the operation is working profitably to provide products that consistently meet or exceed expectations in terms of quality, workmanship, and delivery while maximizing the return on assets.  The Watertown operation is a manufacturer of Electrical products including Variable Frequency Drives (VFD or Drives), with approximately 130 employees.
The Plant Manager will lead successful deployment of our drives growth strategy and will set overall plant policies and procedures to insure effective manufacturing operations and execution of the manufacturing schedule to optimize plant effectiveness. The position directs site staff in the areas of Customer Service, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Operational Excellence and Supply Chain Management to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction. The role also manages a cross-functional staff team to achieve superior business operation results.
In this role you will:
  • Partner with Engineering to ensure proactive and seemless handover of ETO (Engineer-To-Order) projects in order meet final customer quality and service requirements.
  • Provide leadership that is strategic and builds organizational capability, to gain superior operational and financial results. Provide a leadership style that perpetuates the Eaton Values and Philosophy and the Eaton Code of Ethics.
  • Lead and motivate all levels of employees in the workforce toward common goals and objectives through superior leadership. Maintain and improve a superior employee relations environment at the Watertown operation. Direct the plant safety and environmental processes to insure a safe work place for all employees and visitors.
  • Partner with the marketing group and the Industrial Control Division.
  • Direct the operational excellence improvement efforts.
  • Develop and maintain contact with key supplier personnel to assure high quality supplier relationships.
  • Work closely, and in cooperation, with other inter-unit plants
  • Maintain close relationships and involvement with community business and civic leaders.


Minimum (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business and people management in a manufacturing environment with multiple functional areas.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Position Criteria:
  • Must have a knowledge base of the Manufacturing Engineering, EHS, IT, Law, Finance, Human Resources, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management functions.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with the Eaton Business System and process tools such as profit planning, strategic planning, HR OCA succession planning, Eaton Value Cycle, Corporate Accounts, ProLaunch, Lean System/Six Sigma, Supply Chain Management, Fixed Capital Optimization, Eaton Quality System, and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) processes (MESH, ISO 14001, etc.) is required.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Ability to effectively and confidently communicate ideas, concepts, and programs to all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated success in effectively and confidently providing “leadership” to employees in a constantly changing environment
  • Must be able to effectively and confidently communicate and coordinate project assignments with employees, customers and suppliers at all levels of their respective organizations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An MBA degree or a related Master's level degree from an accredited institution.
  • Product and commercial knowledge of the electrical components markets and products is strongly preferred.
