Lead Engineer - XiL (eMobility)

Job Description

Responsible for implementing strategies around Test Automation using HiL, PiL & MiL across Electrical & Industrial segments with strong focus on system validation Automation and new product development, system test coverage, compliance & industry standards. Provides Technical leadership in establishing the  test automation strategies and streamlining the development processes by coordinating with teams from Eaton India Innovation Centre (Pune) and various Divisions/facilities in North America, EMEA, APAC. Develops Test Automation teams
The Lead Engineer will be primarily responsible for
  • Provides leadership for Test Automation team contributing to the architecture, design, and implementation of world class, high-performance, intuitive and enterprise grade Test Automation.
  • Provides leadership for Test Automation team contributing to the test automation, communication protocols validations by ensuring quality and robustness of the products.
  • Understand customer requirements and communicate them to other Eaton teams, and act as the liaison for program activities as appropriate.
  • Monitors progress and achievements on projects. Provide regular reports on development and support activities.
  • Provides expert resolution of issues and monitors integration of work.
  • Review technical concepts of projects including equipment specification and design
  • Synergies and leverages engineering capabilities across groups.
  • Champions continuous process improvements to support the Eaton Business System; DMAIC / DFSS.


  • Bachelor’s in Electronics /Automotive /Computer Science engineering – with relevant model based development/ validation experience in Automotive domain
  • Total relevant work experience: 10+ years.
  • Experience in manual & automation testing for embedded controls products
  • Experience in advanced embedded system validation toolchain like National Instruments/ ETAS/ dSPACE
  • Experience with using Matlab/Simulink for control applications - experience working with CANape, CANalyzer, ClearCase, ClearQuest development tools is highly desirable.
  • Strong Knowledge of scripting languages like Python, VBA, m-scripting
  • Responsible for design of test procedures, automation scripts, software tools
  • Execute tests, document test results and managing defect lifecycle
  • Communication protocols- CAN/ J1939/ CCP/ XCP
  • Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills – experience working in International teams is highly recommended
  • Experience collaborating with local / global suppliers for Hardware/Software procurement, building test lab setups etc.
  • Strong technical experience in -  Fieldbus communication Protocols.
  • Experience in Requirement, architecture, design & Test script reviews and requirement based testing - Unit, Integration, System testing.
  • Sound knowledge & demonstrated experience of full software development life cycle on multiple projects including requirements, design, development, verification & validation, qualification & certification.
  • Proven experience on Talent management (Hire, Develop, Retain), resource allocation and project management.
  • Sound Knowledge and experience with process frameworks (e.g CMMI) including requirements management, defect tracking, build management, change management, and configuration management tools
  • Experience collaborating with local / global suppliers for Hardware/Software procurement, building test lab setups etc. Hands on experience with Emulators and simulators.
  • System and Software reviews, FMEA.
  • Excellent communications skills. A high degree of aptitude, creativity is required.
Preferred / Additional specialized knowledge
  • Experience in leading engineering teams delivering products & solutions.
  • Strong problem solving and software debugging skills.
  • Hands-on experience in Matlab/Simulink, Stateflow, and V & V Tools
  • Knowledge of requirement management tools DOORS and configuration management tools viz. ClearCase.
  • Demonstrated experience of software lifecycle process e.g. CMMI including requirements management, change management, defect management, configuration management tools
  • Demonstrated experience using Six Sigma methodologies (FMEA, DFSS etc.) for product validation
