Eaton’s Aerospace division is seeking an Aerospace Polymer Additive Manufacturing Engineering Specialist to join our team. The position will be based in Irvine, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Torrance, CA; Camarillo, CA; Southfield, MI; Jackson, MI; Jackson, MS; Eastanollee, GA; Glenolden, PA; Grand Rapids, MI; Euclid, OH; North Charleston, SC; Bethel, CT; OR our Beltsville, MD facility.
 
The Aerospace Polymer Additive Manufacturing Engineering Specialist is responsible for identifying and developing specific Additive Manufacturing opportunities in the Aerospace Polymer Business.  The role will work closely with the Commercial team, Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and customers.  Position includes defining the Additive Manufacturing strategy for Polymers, identifying specific targets, guiding the development and managing the customer engagement. Individual must have a strong innovative engineering acumen who has the technical capability to leverage the capabilities of Additive Manufacturing to identify new innovative solutions, including metal to polymer conversions.  This includes influencing the design working with the engineering team. The role will support the development of these opportunities serving as both the applications engineer and PreLaunch program manager who guides the IPT teams during PreLaunch development.

  • You will Develop new solutions utilizing the capability of Additive Manufacturing that offer significant advantages over conventional approaches in speed, cost and/or performance .
  • You will envision new innovative solutions that have not previously been identified that are enabled by additive manufacturing and “sell” the vision to the team .
  • You will work with the CRT, Additive Center of Excellence (both Southfield Michigan and Pune India), and external partners to develop the processes required to develop and commercialize identified targets.
  • You will develop the strategy, roadmap and execution plan for leveraging the capabilities of polymer additive manufacturing within the business.
  • You will recommend design solutions, influence the final design construct, connect targets to the appropriate Additive Manufacturing Process.
  • You will guide the effort to deploy polymer AMFG across the organization including ensuring the continued education of the cross-functional organization.  This includes formal and informal training on the various Additive Manufacturing Technologies.
  • You will support internal/external innovation workshops to identify potential game-changing solutions enabled by Additive Manufacturing, prioritize them, and hold gate reviews to ensure business alignment and support.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science or Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of polymer development experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of additive manufacturing experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in polymer material science or engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in aerospace polymer new product development.
  • Experience managing a cross-functional technical team to develop concepts into solutions.
