Job Description

Eaton’s Vehicle division is seeking a Engineering Manager-Electronics to join our team. The position will be based at our Galesburg, MI facility.
 
The Engineering Manager-Electronics is responsible for the electronics & electrical development, designing new products and commercialized solutions to support customers’ technical requirements, and developing product line extensions across geographically-disperse manufacturing sites for Eaton’s Vehicle Group.

  • You will lead execution of robust Next-Generation PROLaunch design processes and continuous improvement/design efficiency initiatives (i.e. DFSS/DFR).
  • You will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) with minimal supervision.  Teaming proactively and cooperatively across multiple discipline areas and multiple organizations and championing Vehicle Group standards and processes for electronics product development.
  • You will  be responsible for capacity planning, resource management, and project staffing to meet external and internal customer deliverables and expectations, including the use of global and external resources.
  • You will develop close professional relationships with Vehicle Group product customers for developing new product requirements, major modifications of existing products, prototype qualification test requirements, and resolve product performance deficiencies.
  • You will support technical volume content for proposals.
  • You will be responsible for supporting technical write-up, initial development plans, resource plans, risk assessment, etc. for proposal activities.
  • You will manage multiple sites and activity center budgets throughout the follow on period of performance and deliver profit plan forecast and other financial expectations.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • New product development experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced Electrical Engineering Degree.
  • Automotive or commercial vehicle industry experience.
  • New product development experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Systems level understanding of vehicle operation and performance.
  • Green or Black belt certification – DMAIC or DFSS.

  • Ability to effectively present results and recommendations to senior-level management of Vehicle Group and Customer.
  • Industry awareness of new technologies, trends, and regulations  ( e.g. SAE, TMC, ASME, IEEE; RoHS, Functional Safety; AUTOSAR).
  • Expert Level Knowledge of Vehicle Electrical Subsystems and Product Integration; Electronic Control Unit Architecture and Supplier Capabilities.
  • Expert Level Knowledge of Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems and Sensor Technologies and Applications for the Product Domain.
  • Working Level Knowledge of Electromagnetic Compatibility and Compliance.
  • Working Level Knowledge of Electrical-Mechanical Components and Assemblies.
