Eaton’s Aerospace division is currently seeking a Procurement Manager. This position is based at our Grand Rapids, MI facility.
The Procurement Manager is responsible for managing key materials related functions such as materials planning, scheduling and ordering activities associated with the delivery of specific customer products. You will manage and direct materials planning personnel in the receipt and inventory of material to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders while maintaining assigned inventory levels. In addition you are expected to train and educate direct reports on the use of various business systems, varieties of reports and other related tools to ensure timely and economical completion of customer requirements.
  • You will manage current and future demand requirements with planning and supplier capabilities / capacities to ensure completion of customer requirements.
  • You will ensure required documentation and/or system transactions are executed to allocate, purchase, internally manufacture or reschedule material as required.
  • You will assist in expediting material, where required, to meet shortfall between current plan and customer order requirements.
  • You will analyze data, including enterprise requirements planning information and prepares consolidated managerial reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure plant/product line optimal supply chain execution.
  • You will ensure correct planning parameters are utilized in order execution systems (such as MFGPro) to ensure proper order generation.
  • You will manage material cost and schedule impact of proposed engineering changes in addition to taking necessary actions to ensure successful implementation and incorporation of approved engineering releases.
  • You will analyze and manage aggregate inventory levels in relation to customer requirements to meet profit and inventory targets and goals.
  • You will arrange for the sale of scrap, obsolete, surplus materials and by-products in order to minimize excess material.
  • You will evaluate operational performance of the group in order to facilitate performance management

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Experience with materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic
  • Strong PC application skills.  Including complement of Microsoft Office Software
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of Grand Rapids, MI will be considered
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree preferred.  Professional certifications (CPM, CPIM) considered a plus. 
  • Thorough understanding of Materials Management operational concepts surrounding production planning, scheduling, purchasing, and inventory control.
  • Detailed knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Process Variation Reduction (Six Sigma) concepts and tool sets as they relate to materials management
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to lead cross-functional process improvement teams
  • Strong understanding of commodity processes as well as special processes.
  • Knowledge of the commodity and commodity marketplace, including in Low Cost Regions
  • Ability to analyze, identify, and implement opportunities and initiatives for improvement
  • Ability to develop sub-commodity strategies and priority setting for the Supply Chain initiatives
  • Develop and lead an implementation team to deliver the commodity strategies
  • Strong planning/project management skills
