Eaton’s Aerospace Fluid  Electrical Distribution division is seeking a Product Engineering Manager to join our team. The position will be based at our Jackson, MI facility.
The Product Engineering Manager is responsible for guiding the Conveyance engineering team to ensure that current or new Conveyance product designs are technically and economically in present and future markets. The responsibilities include delivering new products, supporting troubleshooting of regional product issues, approving manufacturing deviation requests, continuous product improvements to improve the durability of the product, supply chain cost out initiatives, and analysis support.  This role guides the team which develops components for specific customer programs and brings them to market within needed timeframe.

  • You will monitor performance of product engineering for specific product lines in the Conveyance business to assure that current product support, future product development, and technical support for customers are addressed. Manage effective relationships with customers and provide technical presentations when necessary.
  • You will manage engineering team required to introduce and validate new products to ensure manufacturability is attained while maintaining product design integrity. Deliver product development solutions according to ProLaunch deliverables set forth by the program.
  • You will support the allocation of engineering resources across site team; provide input into resource allocation across the global team including Pune, India.
  • You will assure that efforts to improve the efficiency of the Product Engineering functions are emphasized through creative organizational management, effective use of engineering tools, appropriate training and continuous improvement.
  • You will assure appropriate product documentation, design standards, and material related specifications are developed to support current and future product development activities.
  • You will monitor industrial and technological changes in order to identify potential product improvement and/or cost reduction opportunities.  Provide input into technology and product roadmaps.
  • You will interface with Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing, and Production personnel to ensure product programs are consistent with company goals and priorities.
  • You will contribute to the profit planning/annual budget planning processes, and project monthly rolling forecasts for department.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering including  product development, applications and/or people management.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Product development engineering experience from concept to commercialization.
  • Experience in Aerospace industry.
  • Experience managing teams.  
Position Success Criteria:
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
