The Role
 
Due to expansion Eaton Lighting Systems now has an excellent role on offer for a skilled Electronics Purchasing clerk  to join our purchasing team.
The Electronics Buyer  will report directly to the Purchasing Manager and will be working within the purchasing team and will have the main responsibility for the operational purchasing for the PCB and SMT lines, other purchasing will also be required.
 
As well as demonstrating technical excellence, we are looking for a resourceful, enthusiastic individual that tackles challenges head-on and is able to work effectively both independently and in tandem with other members of the team. You will demonstrate individual initiative and innovation, good attention to detail and a drive to do what is needed to deliver results.
 
 
Principal Accountabilities
 
  • Manage set of daily standard work, taking appropriate actions, and updating operating system and data bases/spreadsheets
  • Support Purchasing Manager by taking a proactive role in identifying opportunities to reduce component lead times/MOQs and prices
  • Quoting
  • Resolution of non-conforming material issues
  • Daily management of a portfolio of suppliers to achieve quality, delivery and customer service levels across specific product groups
  • To maintain all relevant information, both physically and electronically on the computer system, relating to the assigned Supplier Accounts/Commodities
  • Take a proactive role in producing/reviewing KPIs for specific commodity groups.  Present data to Purchasing Manager, using the Supplier Scorecard and other tools
  • To contribute towards identifying projects for cost reduction
  • Work to standards and targets agreed by Purchasing  Manager
  • Proactive supply chain replenishment strategy
  • Continually strive to improve working processes

Qualifications

Person Requirements:
 
  • Ideally you will have experience of purchasing within a manufacturing environment
  • Attention to detail is essential
  • Experience of computerised manufacturing systems (ERP, MPS)
  • Knowledge of SAP, transactions and reporting
  • Sourcing experience – placement of Purchase orders, and expediting
  • Excellent Microsoft skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a fast paced, accountable team environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electronics
  • Hands-on approach to all tasks
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise multiple projects
  • Analytical skills,  to analyse and report data relating to departmental KPIs
  • Knowledge of  freight terms
  • Some technical knowledge of commodities
  • Some materials handling background
  • Strong negotiation experience
  • Experience of supplier performance management
